Reviews for West Side Ramen in Libertyville, IL
Food was good, ramen didn?t have enough broth for my taste. Smoked pork belly in ramen and baobun was delicious. Also really... liked the chicken Katsu and espresso gelato. Fun cocktail selection. I didn?t understand the rap music and staff uniforms, asfar as the atmosphere went. Personally won?t return because most of the staff was not wearing masks, against current COVIDregulations. Staff was very good though, very courteous and attentive. Read more
I?m not only rating this 5 stars because the staff and ownership of this place is incredible, I want to set the record straight... regarding Diana?s accusations of ?cutltural appropriation.? What Diana is either intentionally or unintentionally obfuscatingis that Ramen is actually Chinese in origin. It was brought to Japan by Chinese immigrants; the first record of Chinese wheatnoodles showed up in Yokohama Chinatown in the late 19th century. So are the Japanese culturally appropriating Chinese cuisine?Utterly and completely proposterous accusation by someone who clearly has zero understanding of how food is an amazing bridgebetween cultures. Five GIANT stars for Westside Ramen. Zero stars for Diana who should do a cursory amount of research beforehurling comepletly presposertous allegations. Read more
Due to Covid19 we've only ordered take out, and only having had ramen once before I didn't know what to expect, but I am now a... fan!! I have to be gluten free and West Side Ramen has order options that are flavorful, so I don't feel I'm sacrificingflavor in the least. I've had 2 ramen dishes so far one vegetarian and one shrimp, both were delicious. Read more
