Have been meaning to try this restaurant for sometime now, but as someone who is in the service industry & works a lot, I don't... have as much time/energy as I'd like to dine out. Went there for my mother's bday dinner & they were able to accommodate a lastminute reservation for an early seating. I would definitely recommend reservations as they filled up quickly about 30 minutesafter we were seated. Service was great & as they got busier, there was multiple support staff to help refill waters, etc. Asfar as the food & cocktails, everything was excellent. It all looked so good I unfortunately didn't bother to take pics, becausewe were so excited to eat it. Can't wait to go again to try more menu items! Thank you for the excellent overall experience! This review is reflective of tonight?s visit only. I love HayJ?s, don?t get me wrong it?s been one of my favorite places and... have not had a poor experience until tonight. We came out for my birthday and had to endure a party of 6 (3 couples) next to uswho were loud and obnoxious, very foul mouthed?every other word being the F word. I know that is not reflective of Hay J?s butit did detract from our evening out. We ordered the rib eye at $52.00 be a plate. I love a rib eye. My husband got a rib eye,but I was served a New York strip. I?m not one to complain but it was clear it was a leaner strip cut, not a melt in your mouthrib eye like my husband had. We both knew better. I mentioned it to a server who?s first response was it looks like a strip tohim but had the chef come out. The chef threw around some anatomical language about where the meat came from. Basically hebullish:!!$? me and called it a rib eye and charged me for a rib eye. Ended up boxing it up and my husband will eat it tomorrow.Charged for two rib eye despite them knowing it wasn?t. Super frustrated by this. Spent well over $200 for what was a verydisheartening experience. We come here often and after not being heard, nor satisfied, not feeling very optimistic aboutreturning to support this restaurant. Hay J's Bistro has been one of our favorite Liberty Lake restaurants for years, and we often choose to eat there on special... occasions or when we have guests in town. Last night, we went to Hay J's to celebrate an anniversary, and our waitress for theevening was "Natasha". While she had a pleasant enough disposition, she was, unfortunately, slow and incredibly inattentive. Sheseated us, took our drink and meal orders, and then virtually disappeared. We watched as other patrons who came in AFTER us(with other wait staff serving them), were seated and served both drinks and their meals while we waited. At several points, wehad to flag down other wait staff to get bread and drink refills. At one point, one of the patrons at an adjacent table directedTHEIR server to us, recognizing we were struggling to get anyone's attention. When the food--while as delicious as it alwaysis--finally arrived, it was cold and had clearly been sitting for some time. We finished the meal and waited for our waitress toreturn, but she didn't. Because of that, we had to walk to the front of the restaurant for both a to-go box and the check. Theworse part of that? Who but our waitress was simply standing up front, seemingly occupied with nothing in particular at all.Again, the food was as good as it always is; but, for the first time in our many years of eating at Hay J's, the service wassubpar and took the shine off of what was supposed to be a delightful anniversary evening out. From the time we entered to the time we left was 5 stars allaround. Ambiance ?? Food quality and presentation ?? Drink quality ?? Food Options ?? Attention to minor details?? Personableservice?? Informative ?? It can be really hard to find a restaurant that is all around centered on the customer experience andbeing able to excel in all aspects of dining out. I will say Hay J's has exceeded our expectations. Our dinner was outstanding.Angela was our server was excellent and we could not have had a better experience.
