We used Southern Inn Catering for our cake and mini desserts for our wedding and could not have been happier. The guests loved... the desserts and they were so beautifully made! Best mini cannoli and brownie bites. Absolutely recommend Southern Inn Cateringfor amazing desserts for any event, especially a wedding, because you will not regret it! Read more

We literally stumbled upon this marvelous restaurant on a locals recommendation. The hostess was sweet and charming... But Miss... Whitney made my birthday dinner extra special. She was attentive and personal yet professional at the same time. The food wasfabulous like we've never tasted before! Highly recommend this charming establishment tucked in downtown! Read more

Second visit, food and service are consistently great. We enjoyed a sampling of appetizers in the bar area, all very tasty, but... the chicken skewers were exceptional and unique, then a burger of locally sourced beef that was delicious. Trevor was takingwonderful care of us this time, along with a number of tables in the bar, pleasant, efficient, and well timed. We look forwardto going back. Read more

Had an excellent meal for my daughter's birthday at the Southern Inn Restaurant. This is the second time eating here and both... times have been a great experience. The food was perfectly prepared and tasted great. We ordered the lamb meatballs for anappetizer to share. For our mains we had shrimp & grits, grilled salmon, duck breast, and the special of the day, seared tuna. We all sampled each other's plate and every one was very well prepared and cooked as requested. I highly recommend making areservation as even on a Wednesday, it was quite busy. Great choice when dining in Lexington. Read more

We were so blessed by this meal and service. I have been blessed to eat in some the best, finest, most well known restaurants... in the world and throughout the USA. I have eaten food prepared by some of the best chefs in the USA as well. Their friedchicken signature meal (50 year old private recipe) is by far one of the best dinners I have ever had. I also had a lavenderice tea to go with it. The flavors were simply amazing. The meal was so good I asked to speak to chief (his name was Tony) totell him what a wonderful meal it was and to encourage them to create a cook book, which I would purchase in a heart beat. Excellent food and excellent service. Very reasonable prices for the food and the atmosphere. The pork tenderloin eggs Benedict... was fantastic. And the hibiscus mimosa was a wonderful accompaniment to brunch. I would definitely recommend a visit here. Read more

Made a reservation today (01-17-21) for brunch and my first visit to Southern Inn. Southern Inn is one of only two restaurants... in Lexington currently serving brunch (Tonic being the other.) There's a warm atmosphere inside which made a nice firstimpression - we were sat at a table on the bar side of the restaurant, which I preferred to the main room. My date and I startedour meal with two Bloody Marys featuring Southern Inn's in-house mix, which I feel like could have used more spice, but werebalanced a bit by the seasonings used to line the glasses. Garnishes were an olive and a lime, plus dilly beans, which are notsomething that I'd put in Bloody Marys that I mixed myself, but I understand they're a generally accepted Bloody Maryingredient. (I prefer spicy pickled okra.) Our server also brought complimentary muffins to the table, three different ones -two of which were cranberry as blueberry respectively. Our entrees: I had the omelette, which is vegetarian friendly (I'm not avegetarian) containing red pepper, mushrooms, onion, spinach, and paired with bacon and home fries. Bacon could have been a bitmore substantially cut and crispier - the place is called *Southern* Inn after all - and the home fries were adequate, but I'vediscovered that finding truly delicious and well seasoned home fries in a restaurant can be a challenge. My date ordered theEggs Benedict, which I believe is traditionally served on an English muffin, but is prepared on Brioche toast here at theSouthern Inn. Her dish also included country ham, which I sampled, and in my opinion could be a thicker cut and more "cured" -if that makes any sense. Country ham to me needs to be almost overly salty. Her only issue with the dish were that the eggscould have been a bit runnier, and just looking at them, I would agree. I've always been under the impression that the point wasthat the yoke was meant to coat/soak into the bread. The flavor though from my sample, was on point. Overall, an enjo Read more
