Walked over here after visiting the farmers market and tried the Zims platter for brunch. Sat outside on the patio to enjoy the... atmosphere with some live music. The food was good but a little bland for the price. A very convenient cafe if you’re downtownfor the farmers market looking for a quick bite to eat. Read more

We only got dessert. We had carrot cake and a peanut butter cookie. Both very good. Carrot cake would be better with pineapple... and toasted pecans. Came back today for dinner. Delicious! Read more

They were very friendly and provided good service. I had some gravy, eggs over easy, and country ham. It was delicious, and it... wasn't priced very bad. The option to order a la carte was much appreciated, as I'm trying not to eat a humongous amount forevery meal. I was very happy that the food was not priced significantly higher it seemed for it being à la carte as well. Read more

I got the roast beef Manhattan and it was much different than I've had it other places, but I didn't have a chance to take a... picture of it because it was that good. And their cheeseburger was huge. The people are nice and it's super nice. Atmosphere isgood for any time. Went today...same dish. Gotta "Cosmopolitan"...idk what happened but it was pink lemonade. I've never seenor tasted a Cosmo like this. He said it was "2 oz." of something twice, when I asked. Idk. Read more

Zim’s has a great atmosphere and is really affordable for a downtown venue. Loved my Cubano Sandwich and the greens are... amazing. Highly recommend the French 75 cocktail. Read more

In the search to find more restaurants in the bluegrass, Fat Man Reviews mad it's way to Zim's Café in Lexington, KY. Zim's... spotlights regional southern cooking, they are located in the old courthouse. I tried the Our Old Fashioned, made with OldForester 100, Woodford Reserve Barrel-Aged bitters. The orange comes through in smell first, the drink is well-balanced betweenthe bourbon and the sugar, then finished with the bitters. My fiancé sampled the Myrtle Molly. Made with Wheatley Vodka,Triple Sec, fresh lime juice and house made plum honey. This drink was frothy, sweet and very easy to drink. The lime reallybrought the drink together. We started with the Fried Pickles and homemade ranch. The pickles are thick chip cut, lightlybattered and fried perfectly. The ranch is spot on as well. I tried a cup of their Bourbon Trail Chili. This is made with KYproud beef, white & black beans, tomatoes, peppers in a bourbon chili gravy. I also added white cheddar, sour cream and greenonions. Everything is cooked well, subtle chili heat and spiced well but this dish desperately needed salt. For my entrée Ihad the Courthouse Hot Chicken and fries, consisting of cayenne butter sauce, chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomato on a roll. Thefries were frozen but cooked very well. The chicken was juicy, the cayenne sauce had a good flavor and gave a nice lingeringheat. The vegetables were fresh as was the bun. The aioli unfortunately was kind of bland, but did add creaminess. My fiancéhad the Wallace Cubano with Weisenberger cheese grits. This sandwich comes with homemade pulled pork, Swiss cheese, ham, honeydijonaise, sliced pickles on white bread with grilled garlic annatto butter. The bread was toasted well with a light garlicflavor, the pickles crispy, and the cheese had a pleasant nutty taste. The big winners were the tasty, juicy and tender porkwith great flavor and the honey dijonaise was sweet and tangy. The grits were fluffy, cheesy and cooked perfectly. Zim's Caf Read more

Wonderfully fresh and healthy option for brunch. During my visit, enjoyed a customized Zim’s Omelette. For the omelette... chose 1) Roasted red peppers 2) Caramelized onions 3) Spinach 4) Mushrooms 5) White cheddar cheese Outcome wasphenomenal. Side came with a small portion of home fries (a.k.a hash browns) and a simple salad. The meal was delicious, healthy, clean, fresh, and flavorful. There are two different dining areas. There is a bar located across from the atrium and alarger dining room that is more welcoming for families. The cafe is hidden inside the court house. Doesn’t help that exteriorsignage is not prominent. Per a waitress, there isn’t designated parking. The options are metered street or paid parking lotsand garages. Hope this was helpful, and hope you have a healthy and hearty meal at Zim’s Cafe. Read more

Second visit. Finally made it to brunch and loved the Bluegrass Benedict. The egg was beautifully poached and the country ham... with it was delicious. The home fries were nice and crispy. The veggie of the day was bok choy and it was wonderful. Definitelyrecommend this dish for brunch (and our waitress recommended it too)! Read more
