You would think that a business as new as this one is would not have the kind of problems that my husband and I experienced this... evening. I asked him to stop and pick us up some Sonny's BBQ and what a mistake. He was the only one in the drive through lineother than a woman waiting behind him. He had placed his order and was waiting at the window. He was privy to the woman behindhim in line's phone conversation, who had called Sonny's and asked why she had to wait since she had placed her order on lineand it was supposedly ready. They brought her food out to her and she left. After waiting 30 minutes after placing his orderand receiving his receipt that had a time stamp, he finally out of frustration, knocked on their window. They tried to excusehis wait by saying it was only 9 minutes, but he showed them it had been 30, and our food was given to him. No apology for himhaving to wait so long, just a little annoyed that he had bothered them by knocking on the window. The food was sub par, skimpyportions on the meat, and the sweet potato had to have been a reheated from yesterday. Not only did I get maybe a 1/3 cup ofpulled pork at the most, part of it had gristle and big chunks of fat. I would not recommend this place AT ALL. They weren'teven busy, and now we know why. I've eaten at the Sonny's in Somerset, the Sonny's in Richmond and both of them were so muchbetter than this location, makes me wonder if they are even the same company. Read more
We went to Sonny's for a 2pm late lunch. Our server was quick and we ordered the $50 family feast. However I was disappointed... with some of the food. The cornbread was about room temp. The cook forgot to add our brisket to the platter. When the brisketwas brought it was partially charred on one side. The remainder of the food was great. The server forgot to bring our checkuntil we flagged her down. Perhaps it was an off day because a prior trip to this location had been much better. I will go backbut another trip like this one will force me to drive to another location for my BBQ. Read more
We ordered take-out and although the fries, potato and slaw were good enough, the meat was inedible. I ordered the leaner sliced... brisket, and it was almost all fat and gristle (see pic). My spouse ordered chopped brisket, and it was even grosser! We'resuper disappointed, given we'd had a previously poor experience, and were given credit to give them an opportunity to get itright, and they fell far short. Additionally, on our previous ordering experience, no one knew where to find the allergies(like gluten) in the store, so we had to use the website to order! I know it's super hard to find staff right now, but even theyadmitted their training was seriously deficient! Read more
Food was fantastic, atmosphere was just as nice, and service was great as well. If you like BBQ then Sonny's is a must.
We were very happy with the food and the service. We ordered the Pork 3 Ways and the Chicken and pork. It was very tender,... smokey, and juicy. The ribs were amazing! The BBQ egg rolls are also great and the sizzlin' BBQ sauce can be it's own foodgroup...No joke, we had to buy a bottle of it before we left. Read more

Amazing barbecue here today. The egg rolls are awesome definitely worth a try. Had the ribs were amazing every bite was... delicious. Ended the meal with banana pudding which was fabulous. Atmosphere was nice, clean, and so easy to hear for thehearing impaired. Very easy to say this is ando over. Right easy to get to off the interstate. Make this a stop! Read more
Update: It had been a few months since we tried Sonny?s so we tried to give them another shot. That was a mistake. We were there... for an hour and a half and most of it was spent waiting. We waited to be seated because there wasn?t a hostess. A waitress satus and took our drink order but those took about ten minutes to arrive. Once we ordered it took over thirty minutes for our foodto arrive. A table came and sat down while we were waiting and they got their food even before we received ours. When it didarrive the meat on neither plate was warm. It felt like it hadn?t even been heated. There was also hardly any breading on theOkra. You could see the green of the okra almost completely. One positive was that the waitress was very nice and genuine. Wewill be making the drive to the Richmond location from now on. Previous Post: We were so excited to hear that Sonny's wascoming to Lexington. Unfortunately, we have tried it several times and every time there has been an issue. When I got thebrisket grilled cheese the bread was super soggy. Another time, we got take out and had ordered online. We didn't get the orderuntil 30 minutes past the stated time and it was cold. Most recently, we went in and waited nearly 10 minutes before a waitresscame over. We were just about to walk out. Also, the baked potato was burned. Read more
