My husband and I tried this place since it has many amazing reviews. I’m not sure if they were having an off night but our... food was not very appetizing. I’m a huge lover of German food and I’m definitely disappointed. My husband, who will eatanything, didn’t even finish his food. However they had a huge selection of beer and we enjoyed our German beers! All in all,if you’re hoping for some German food, don’t recommend. If you’re hoping for good German beer it’s a great place! Good variety! Great food! Outstanding atmosphere! Restaurant was like a quaint little German guest house the bar was just the... complete opposite modern up to date roomy and full of activity and the volleyball courts were busy only downside to me was thefact that they don't offer a Veterans discount! I find this especially strange as I was told that the owner himself is aveteran!!!! Read more

My family loves Marikkas. Best German food around. Yummy wurst (sausages), schnitzel (breaded veal- beef-pork- chicken). Make... sure to try the spatzle (egg noodles) and rot kohl (sweet and sour cabbage) - they are the best. They also have a fantastic beerand cider selection. Read more

Food Fun Adventure Saturday took Fat Man Reviews to Marikka's Restaurant & Bier Stube in Lexington, KY. Marikka's offer... authentic German fare with a global beer menu and beach volleyball. I started with a Stiegl Grapefruit Radler. This beer waslight and fruity, but the grapefruit was not overwhelming. The beer is pretty sour but in a refreshing way. We sampled thePotato Pancake with applesauce and optional sour cream. The potatoes were cooked to a nice golden brown and just slightlygreasy. The taste was a bit bland and lacking salt but the chew had some crunch. The sour cream offered something to cut throughthe density of the potato while the applesauce was a little underwhelming as it tasted like it came from a jar. My fiancé hadthe Jagerschnitzel, pan fried breaded pork in a mushroom gravy, with Sauerkraut and Hausgemachte Kartoffelbrei(cold potatosalad). The pork was cooked well and there was a lot of gravy, but again both were lacking in seasoning. The sauerkraut wastasty and we both enjoyed it. The potato salad was a bit bland as well and looked and tasted a little like mustard potato saladfrom any store. I ordered the Rahmschnitzel, pan fried breaded veal in a cream sauce, with Rotkraut(red cabbage) andHausgemachte Spatzle(German Noodles) and gravy. The veal was cooked to a nice golden brown, and it was very tender. The saucewas very creamy with a tang that I cannot actually place, but it was nice. Together they were pretty good, but the veal actuallyneeded more salt and pepper for my taste. The cabbage was sweet with a heavy vinegar taste, which I really enjoyed. The noodleswere buttery and chewy, a bit doughy, but the taste was pretty good. The gravy was a brown gravy made from bacon, and it added anice meaty flavor to the dish. Marikka's Restaurant & Bier Stube's beer list is large, and the menu has lots of Germanofferings from beef to chicken and even sausages. The service was great and everyone was friendly.
