Reviews for Southern Drawl Barbecue in Lewisville, TX

This will be the 1st negative review I?ve ever written.\n\nDisclaimer: It?s 100% our fault for not doing our due diligence to... vet this caterer before choosing them.\n\nP.S. We booked ?Southern Drawl BBQ? but ?Seven Loaves? appears to be the parentcompany?which is run by the same people?so we left the review for both.\n\nHaving said all that, our experience with them was acatastrophe.\n\nThe issues are listed below but the TL;DR is: they fumbled the ball so badly so many times that we ended updeciding to fire them, eat the $3,100 we\'d already pre-paid them, and hire a new caterer rather than sticking with them.\n\nTheowner will inevitably respond to this review trying to downplay these issues and probably accuse us of ?review blackmail? orwhatever, but just use your imagination to consider how badly a caterer would have to screw the pooch for you to light $3,100 ofyour money on fire rather than use them.\n\nIf you?re OK rolling those dice, they might work out for you. Otherwise, my adviceis to go with a more reputable company instead (we used Patriotic Pig and the difference was night-and-day).\n\nThe (incomplete)list of issues:\n\nPoor communication: Our POC (Leslie) became progressively less reliable in both response time & (moreimportantly) helpfulness the closer we got to the wedding. We spent several days struggling to arrange a tasting so that wecould choose the final items for our wedding.\n\nNickel-and-diming for the tasting: At first they said it?d be $300 for atasting, which seemed odd. Apparently their restaurant closed down so they?re unable to accommodate tastings ad hoc withoutcommissioning their staff, wasting food, etc. Ok.\n\nWhen we reminded them that they have a food truck, other events, etc, theysaid something like ?oh yea we can do a tasting for no cost? (?); then the day we were scheduled to pick up the food they sentus a bill for $100 (??); then when we reminded them that they said it?d be no cost they said ?oh yea you?re right? Read more

I purchase the below items from the food truck at The Preserve of Pecan Creek on 05/21/22. Food was cold and looked nothing like... their website food presentation. I gave their food one star due to taste and appearance. Read more

I wanted to like this place so badly based on the reviews but, I was so disappointed with the food. Meat had zero smoke flavor,... Brisket was dry, ribs and pulled pork were flavorless, sausage was sub par. 2 stars for the staff being super nice and thenfried apple pie was decent. If you are looking for AMAZING Texas BBQ that everyone else raves about go to Hutchins in McKinneythey got the magic there! Read more

Our family has been to this food truck 3 times since it opened. The portions are generous. We still haven?t got around to trying... everything we want to try. I love the brisket tacos with their homemade bbq sauce. Our teen son loves the smoke wagon sandwichwhich is a ton of meat and actually fills him up. My husband likes the ribs.\n\nThe sides are amazing, especially the greenchili mac n cheese. We?re looking forward to trying the homemade chips, fried pie and stuffed baked potato. This is my ?workfrom home lunch treat? when I get tired of soups and sandwiches. Great family owned local business - go support them!!! Read more

Amazing BBQ! They make it all themselves and it\'s all delicious! My wife and I had the sliced brisket platter. Brisket was... tender and juicy and the sauce is incredible. I had street corn and mac & cheese. Both were so packed with flavor. Go supportthis business and family. They lost a lot of business from their catering business due to COVID-19 so they started the foodtruck. Get the word out and go get you some awesome BBQ! Read more

We have tried Southern Drawl at two different locations and the food has not disappointed. I really love the brisket sandwich,... and can\'t seem to break away from ordering that. I really want to try the fried apple pie, but they sell out really quickly. Myhusband loves the ribs and sausage plates. Great family business! Read more
