Reviews for Taste of Havana in Lenoir, NC
We love Cuban food. And being married to a Cuban man from south Florida has made me a bit picky when it comes to this... cuisine. The fried yuca with the special sauce is fantastic. The ropa is tender and flavorful. And the Cubano is perfection. Butthis coffee...this tiny little cup of coffee is what literal hopes and dreams tastes like. Read more
We were visiting the area overnight for my brother's 70th birthday. When I went in to inquire about takeout, the man at the... counter told me that the 3 dishes we wanted to try were unavailable. Disappointed, I relayed our situation to him and a youngwoman that worked there. After some discussion between them, it seemed to me that the woman had no interest in making anyattempt to acommodate us. They offer just 7 entrees and 2 of those (arrow con pollo and Pollo asado) were not available. Of 6starters, 1 (tamales) was not available on a Saturday evening. How can an eatery have limited offerings and still be unable toproduce them? Read more

Absolutely amazing place to eat. Food is always delicious and the atmosphere is so inviting, not to mention the sweet owner, ... Iris!!! She always treats us extra special and that and many other reasons keep us coming back!!! Although the food is great, leave room for dessert because they are fabulous. Definitely hard to beat a Tres Leches cake but the slice or portion sizewill leave you a gasp and if that's not your thing, then the Havana Sunset is to die for!!! And if you don't like either, thenyou should probably go get checked out!!!!! Read more
I started with a Cuban coffee that was perfect. It was strong, bold and sweet all at the same time. I had a cuban sandwich ... with a side ( included) of tostones. The sandwich consists of pork, ham mustard and pickles on sour dough type bread cooked ina pannini press. The outside was crisp with the telltale lines from the press. The ham was mild as was the mustard. The porkwas juicy flavorful and velvety tender. The pickles were a disappointment. They should have added a vinegar tang but just didn't add to the dish like they should have. The tostones were perfectly cooked, crisp, warm and slightly salty. They were servedwith an unusual (to me) sauce which was a clear broth with smashed garlic in it. I ordered a piece of chocolate tres lechecake to end my meal.( With another coffee of course!) The server delivered a slab of home made cake that was moist and flavorful. The saturation of the 3 milks was evenly distributed and not too dry or mushy. I have to mention my server. A young woman who was neat, clean and most importantly just the right mix of attentiveness and cheerfulness. She made me feel as ifI was guest at her family home. ( Related to the owners? ) Either way she did a great job rounding out an almost perfect meal. I would travel back to Lenoir just to eat here again. Read more
