Had a wonderful stay last weekend with a dusting of snow. The location is why one books. The rooms are nice, just not luxurious,... particularly in the accessories such as the pillows and sheets, otherwise a nice room. It is so quiet at night. There were wineglasses for use, the fire place was such a treat in the suite. The trails that start at the lodge are very convenient. TheLatchstring Restaurant across the street, while a little on the higher price ticket side, has fine food and has amazing service.Driving into town would have cost probably more in gas. Overall, wonderful place to stay. Read more

Beautiful views that's why we hosted our wedding here. Unfortunately the Bridal Suite was sub-par at best. It was beautiful but... there was a magnitude of problems. Firstly the deck was covered in snow and ice, upon our request to remove the snow we weretold that's a service they don't offer but we could do it ourselves. The vent directly above the bed was COVERED in thick dust, the balcony door handle fell off both the inside and outside, the lamp was broke, the door hinges squealed every time you openedthe door and the shower head was so calcified that water was struggling to make it out.... we brought all of this up and therewas no interest at all, we were still charged full price and nothing was addressed over the 2 days. Really sad that a customercan be treated like this when spending such a large amount of money. There was also a lack of communication when it came to thewedding itself. Thanfully the Spearfish Canyon is magical so we still had an amazing wedding day. Read more

Pros-Beautiful scenery and lobby. Friendly staff. On-site trails are awesome! Cons- Our room was on the first floor and it was... very loud when upstairs room ran water or flushed the toilet. Bed didn?t have a blanket. Just a sheet and the polyester bedcover. Read more

Perfect location, interior decor, and lodge experience! The front desk staff were friendly and helpful and the lobby area is a... wonderful place to relax and play checkers. Plenty of surrounding hiking and waterfalls made it hard to leave. The magnificentscenery and wonderful meals at the Latchstring Restaurant across the street made for a perfect combination! There are so many things to love about the SCL. Having access to hiking trails, streams, and waterfalls all right from the... property was amazing. You can spend days exploring the canyon. The setting is really quite beautiful. The fact that it waspet friendly was also a huge bonus. Rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. Only 30 minutes from Deadwood for those lookingto access nightlife and gambling. Rooftop hot tubs were a nice treat. A BIG SHOUTOUT to BERNADETTE! She made my partner andme feel welcomed from the moment we arrived, and her customer service and hospitality were second to none! Bernadette is a gem! The only reason this isn't a five-star review is that, while the lodge is a great stay, for the money per night, the lack ofcontinental breakfast or complimentary lobby coffee service in the morning was disappointing. While there is a restaurantacross the street, I feel like the lodge could offer a little something for guests in the morning. The other reason for amissing star is that being a dog friendly hotel I was surprised that there was only one pet relief station, and during our3-night stay it never had any bags. Read more
