Reviews for Crane & Pelican Cafe in Le Claire, IA
From the signature cocktails to the salads to the entrees, everything was fabulous! Service was attentive but not intrusive. The... restaurant is located in an old mansion on top of a hill overlooking the Mississippi River. Dining areas are broken up intodifferent rooms which gives an uncrowded but intimate feel. Outside tables are available, weather permitting. Menu is limitedand changes seasonally which allows them to do what they do very well. We loved it so much that we are going back for one oftheir monthly themed dinners. Give it a try; you won't be disappointed! Read more
We can?t say enough good things about Mandy and her team at Pelican & Crane. We catered our wedding of 150 guests and opted for... a buffet-style meal (including salad, Cajun Chicken Pasta, Meatloaf Sliders, Smashed Potatoes, and Green Beans). First, the foodwas spectacular! Everything was fresh, full of flavor, and we?ll prepared. We received many compliments from our guests on thefood. Second, Mandy?s input was spot on to make sure our meal was a success. Third, her team went above and beyond at the eventitself. They were very attentive to ensure everything was clean and the guests were happy. We would use them 100x over and 10/10recommend. Read more

Came here for lunch. Restaurant was pretty empty. Small menu selection. Food was mediocre at best. Service was slow. River views... were pretty though. Expected better food at this price point. I saw someone else?s picture of their lobster Mac and cheese-theone we received today didn?t look like that picture. Ours had mushrooms but no lobster in it. The pecan crusted salmon was notcrusted with pecans-just served with a blueberry compote with a few pecans in the sauce. Would recommend trying a differentrestaurant. I wish we would have taken some pics as our food didn?t look like the others posted. I?m wondering if lunch time isleftovers and smaller portions but for full price. Read more

My husband and I had an excellent dinner tonight at Crane & Pelican Cafe. The historic building is very charming and there is a... nice view of the Mississippi River from the dining room. Our entrees, the scallops with grits, and the salmon sandwich andGreek salad were delicious and perfectly done. There was a yummy surprise on my salad as it was topped with gyros meat andslivers of pita. My salmon sandwich was served on pumpernickel bread with a tasty sauce with capers which added to its flavor. For dessert we shared the best crepes I have ever had. They were orange cream with a Grand Mariner caramel sauce with pecans.Just delectable. We had a nice conversation with Mandy, the owner who told us some nice stories about the history of therestaurant and added to the whole dining experience. We highly recommend this restaurant. Kudos to the chef. Read more
