TLDR: Solid AUCE KBBQ spot on the strip. Extensive menu with some tasty options. Can get very busy, highly recommend using Yelp... Wait-list. Vibe: 5/5. Located near one of the entrances of the Miracle Mile Shopping Mall, Gen is very easy to get to from thestrip as long as you know where you are going. The layout inside the restaurant is conducive to large group dining, with 4 and 8top tables available. A major plus is that the grill exhaust systems are top notch, as we didn't leave smelling likemeats. Service: 3/5. During our visit, I had our group of 6 on the Yelp wait-list. We ended up getting lost in the Miracle Milefinding the restaurant and apparently missed our check-in time by 5-10 minutes. Understanding we were at fault, I told thehostess that we were willing to wait until they were able to seat us. The hostess acknowledged and assured us we would be seatedshortly. So we stood to the side of the hostess stand for an additional 20 minutes. During that time we watched several othergroups who appeared to be walk ups get seated immediately. I eventually walked back up to the hostess and asked where we were onthe wait-list and she realized that she forgot to put us back in the queve. Fortunately, she was very apologetic and had us thenseated immediately. Besides this minor hiccup, service during the meal was decent. Our server was relatively available to takemeat orders throughout the dinner and drinks were kept filled. This is a cook it yourself KBBQ restaurant instead of having theservers man the grill. Food: 5/5. Impressive selection of both meats and side dishes. My group of 6 we're pretty hungry by thetime we were seated, so we ended up ordering the entire menu. I happen to be in town the week GEN was opened in planet Hollywood. This is definitely the best value you?ll get for food on the... strip for $35. It was a little hard to find the first time - but completely worth it. The staff was extremely attentive andfriendly. Better than other Korean BBQ style restaurants I?ve been to. I also really loved the bar/ lounge area in the veryback. Highly highly recommended, especially if you?ve never experienced Korean BBQ style dining. I would normally go to Chinatown for an AYCE Korean BBQ, but staying at Planet Hollywood, the decision was easy to make when I... saw that Gen BBQ was open. I've been to multiple locations in California, so I knew that the quality would be decent. They donot take any reservations so you must be good with your time and get on a wait list on Yelp. For our table of three we were onthe wait list for an hour. The food was great, but the service at this location is second to none. Anytime we made an order, itfelt like the food came within 1 to 2 minutes. There was a constant flow of waiters checking in on us. Every 5 minutes. Theplace was packed, so that made it even more for impressive. The manager came and chatted with us at the end of the dinner andtold us that this was only location that serves sushi as part of their all you can eat menu. This was our first time eating at a Korean BBQ house. From the time you walk in you are greeted with smiles & excellent customer... service. Someone is coming by your table every few minutes bringing the food you select, changing out the grill, or seeing ifyou need something. The options & combinations seem endless & being able to cook your food the way you like it makes it fun. Thefood is amazing! CaliBoy & Vin Dog were awesome! Loved their energy! Everyone we came across there were really nice & attentiveto making sure we were good. There is a lounge area in back & for $22 all you can eat appetizers & sushi. OUTSTANDING service! The food was sooooo good, cooked well, amazing flavors, and more than enough to walk out beyond satisfied.... Our server, Justin, was SUPER charismatic and friendly, offering insight to places we should check out as tourists wanting morethan the typical. The owners came over to our table and cooked the food with us, offering for us to try more items and askingwhich ones were our favorite. They just opened, and were offering deals on alcohol, and they greeted us with a BANG as well! Ifwe ever get to come back to Vegas, we'll be dining here again. 10/10 would recommend. Read more
