Reviews for Dona Maria Tamales Restaurant in Las Vegas, NV
Of all the restaurants I?ve discussed with friends and colleagues, this one always seems to be viewed as either great or with... complete apathy. It?s been one year since moving downtown and today we ventured here for breakfast. Finally. Great food andgreat service (Gaby). We enjoyed Machaca con huevo and Café de olla (coffee with hint of cinnamon). We also had the huevoscon chili verde with pork and two over easy eggs. Go check out this place that?s been here since 1980. Simple Mexican fooddone right. We will be back to try dinner in the near future. Read more
Was driving by a bit early for lunch. Saw that they were open early, decided to stop and try them, this place was great, 3 of... us in the party and we all got something different, all of it from the chips and salsa on up to the entry's were really good, Ihad the beef burrito smothered with red sauce, 1 person had the pork Tomales. The sauce on the tamales was unbelievable, hadonions cooked into the sauce. Had the rice and bean lunch combo with all plates, just top notch food, service was impeccable allthroughout the meal, a very pleasant experience. Will definitely be going back to try more , and we took an order of 10 tamalesand sauce to go for after work. Read more
I was so disappointed at first then disgusted by this place. The food was rancid! The cheese in the chile relleno was hard and... rubbery. The people cooking this atrocity were actually eating - obviously not there own food because it is trash. Speaking oftrash they lay there dish towels out on the dumpster! This is not safe and it?s disgusting! Read more
Awesome place, good stop for menudo with pata(foot), they serve it on the side if don't want it inside or you don't have to have... it if only want menudo. Tamale are delicious. Staff is great, Courteous, service is fast. I crave the mango margarita everytime we come to Vegas. They never disappoint. We tried some other restaurants but this is the best one by far. Great hang overfood too Read more
My friend loves this place. I enjoyed it because she did and they were able to accommodate a large group. The food was okay.... Tortillas came late for the fajitas so that didn't help. Otherwise easy to get in and out of for a strip location. Stafffriendly. Thank you. Read more
Place is so over rated. The menudo was absolutely disgusting, like it?s boiled until it?s like extremely rubbery yet soft I... don?t even know how to explain the texture because I have never experienced this before. They use a mole to color the menudoafter putting it in a bowl. I had to ask for more chili powder and they gave me more mole to add to it for color which is whyI?m the photo mine has a beautiful color. Don?t be fooled even with adding more it was not edible because of the texture of themenudo. The tamales ???? are okay, I think if they cut the meat up inside a little more versus just leaning huge chunks ofshredded pork and beef they would be more enjoyable. This doesn?t take from the taste at all, just makes them hard to eat. Themasa in the pork tamales is spot on, in the beef it was okay but just wasn?t as good as the pork. I had the same experience bothtimes I went abs ordered a dozen of half pork and half beef. Their chips are nice and freshly fried and the salsa served with itis just okay. The three stars is for the decent tamales and great service. Read more
Horrible! The prices wouldn't be that bad if the food was actually of quality. The salsa served with the chips is very bland.... Pretty much just a tomato paste. I got lunch number 10. The tamale was not bad but it was not great. The masa was doughy likesit's been sitting in steam or water. Beans were disgusting. No flavor. Rice was dry and tasted of tomato paste. Steak burritowas also bland with no flavor on the beans. The steak tasted as if it was boiled and just put on the grill to give the grilledsteak appearance. There was also thick chunks of raw onion which was just very odd. Usually onion served on tacos or a burritoare finely chopped. Mole enchiladas were okay maybe a 7 or 8 out of 10. Chorizo was salty af. Orange juice tasted like somethingmade out of a frozen concentrated can and was left out all day. Masks are required but apparently the servers do not have towear a gloves when using bare hands to scoop up chips for the customers. And just a few minutes before they were helping clearout tables not washing hands after touching used plates silverware cups etc then going straight to the chip warmer. Brought upthe concern with the waitress and she said she would talk to the manager. While I was there that specific server w the whiteshirt was scooping up the chips with her hands. must have served about 4 to 5 tables. Can you say cross contamination and notfollowing covid CDC guidelines. Seriously though, the health department needs to give them a visit because a pitcher of salsawas sitting out on the counter. I'm pretty sure that salsa needs to be refrigerated and under a certain temperature. All in allabout 1/3 of the food was eaten but could not down the rest because it was just such a disgusting experience. That's probablywhy the bathroom had poop all over the toilet and the toilet was clogged because of all the cross-contamination and food notproperly stored. $70 for all this food. Worst experience and worse money spent this weekend in Las Vega Read more
