Reviews for The Boathouse At Lakeville in Lakeville, CT
Been there twice in last 2 weeks, once alone and with my son this past week. Food is excellent, although they run out of popular... dishes early. Can be crowded in season-make a reservation. Very friendly staff and deserts are great! Read more
You get the sense that your experience is going to be very good, once sitting and perusing the menu?but the simple, staple,... lobster macaroni and fish & chips lacks in taste, texture & appearance. Disappointing knowing you could have cooked a finer mealat home and after wish you had. To be helpful, a little advice? incorporate lobster throughout macaroni, add salt, white andcayenne pepper and perhaps a dash of nutmeg. Top with a panko crust and serve with two lobster claws, crossed atop. Garnish witha sprinkle of parsley and I?ll happily pay $27 next time. Fish and chips needs resuscitation as well as 70% of rest of menu.Service was ok. Read more
We had a lovely evening with delicious fish and chips and cheesecake. Not for the dieters that meal. And although I didn?t need... to add to my calories the cheesecake should not have been shared. It?s a small and perfectly made slice but definitely only forone! Read more
(Last visited on 10/9/2021.) After a long, amazingly fun day at Lime Rock Park it was time for dinner, but we didn't feel like... making the 90 minute drive home just yet. So we did out fair share of Yelp'ing then found this place. I'm glad we did, because Ihad a good time, here's why! Atmosphere/Appearance: The Boathouse, set right on Main Street, looks just like it's namesake witha private parking lot on the side that wraps around the back. The inside delivers a very tavern-feel with low, yellow lighting, lots of wood and an open concept. It was VERY busy since it was a Saturday evening, but that's what you want to see! We didn'thave any reservations so we just sent up a prayer and boom... 2 seats at the bar! Sold! So we sat at the bar among the regularsand chatted it up! Service: Chris was our bartender and server. He took excellent care of us. He was swift, friendly, funny, personable and made sure that we had a good time. Food: Never in my life had I ever had wings and sushi in the same meal...until now. Lol. It's such a strange concept. I was actually a bit apprehensive about getting sushi in the same place where theysell, wings, prime rib and steaks. I shouldn't have been! So I started off with the wings with their homemade Buffalo sauce. They were pretty good, but I didn't know they were breaded. So they were super thick, but super flavorful as well. I'd ask ifit's possible to get them without the breading next time, but usually that slows the kitchen down a bit. For my sushi entrees Iwent with The T-N-T Roll which contains spicy tuna, lobster salad and avocado on the inside then covered with spicy mayo as wellas some crunchies. It comes wrapped in soy paper. This was a delicious roll that wasn't very spicy, but it was so savory. Theflavors worked together so well and the crunchies helped add another texted to the roll. The 2nd roll I got was The Triple FireRoll which contains tuna, salmon, yellowtail and tobiko. It's then covered in spicy mayo an Read more
4.3 Stars. Exceptional appetizers - whole belly fried clams (market priced at $30.) and spicy tuna sushi roll. The clams were... the best I've ever had prepared this way - melt in your mouth tender and all a good size. The fresh tuna was superb. A1 quality. These two starters were so beyond expectations in terms of their perfection, our main dishes paled in comparison though theywere very good, as well. The swordfish and cod were a little overcooked in my seafood combo, but the salmon was moist andbuttery soft. The cioppino had a nice selection of shellfish but a couple of mussels were sealed shut. A colleague who lives intown told us his favorite thing here are the raw tuna nachos. Drinks from the bar delivered. There's a nice mural of boats as abackdrop for the bar seats, and the theme throughout the restaurant is nautical, of course, hence the name. Packed house on thisJune Saturday evening. No salad or bread with dinner. My partner would have liked some bread to soak up the broth with hiscioppino. Our waiter was polite and timely. A big fail was whoever packed our unfinished cioppino to go, did not crimp theplastic lid into the aluminum container, so the broth soaked the take home paper bag. What a mess. Still, a great place tofrequent for regulars and definitely worth the stop in the area. Read more
Just passing through town, nice place to stop for the locals and visitors. Mary was great, prompt, attentive and offered... suggestions. Had a vegetarian Quasidilla and Pastrami Ruben. The home made chips were great. So good.. half the meal later...snapped the picture. Great spot for lunch or dinner from the sea or land choices. Very nice bar area. Enjoy! Read more
Delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts. About four beers on tap, including local microbrews, and a full bar with ample... selection of regional wines. Tasteful maritime décor, including two canoes affixed to the ceiling as in Amenia?s Four Brothersrestaurant, which also belongs to the Boathouse?s ownership. Friendly, efficient staff, clean bathrooms and fast wi-fi. Parkingin the lot out front, but careful since all ingress and egress turns into the same lane used for parking. Read more
The Boathouse at Lakeville is one of the best dining institutions in its area. The specials and desserts are always varying,... ensuring customers always have a new dish to try while a strong core menu of classics and more innovative items anchors theBoathouse in its culinary offering. Service is always friendly and servers go above and beyond. The only issue is a relativelyhigh price but it is commensurate with comparable establishments in the region. Read more
