My first experience with a traditional ramen. The vegetable dumplings were great, but the bone broth was not for me. Not... disappointed, because trying new things means you may find things you don't like. I will come back to try their curry, as Itasted my sister's and loved it. This was the best food we had on our trip to Lakeland. I loved the vegetarian pho. It had a type of mushroom we had never had... before but everyone loved it. My daughter had the kid's pho but said it wasn't as good as mine since it didn't have thevegetables. My husband had the teriyaki chicken and cleaned his plate so fast. He said it was so good. The eldest girl hadwings and Boba tea. She liked these. I shared my pho with my youngest daughter. They all ate faster than me but I didn't wantto leave any broth because it was so good. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful from the minute we walked in. We hadto wait a few minutes since we were a party of 5. It was worth the wait. This was a failure from front to back. Ordered the chicken ramen and duck ramen. The chicken was dry and like chewing very tough... jerky. The broth was flavorless and the eggs were not traditional ramen style. Just basically a half boiled egg, no soy. Theduck meat was good, but broth was also flavorless. We also had the Rangoon and summer rolls. The summer rolls had the samedried up chicken. Not even the peanut sauce could save it. I give this 2 stars because the server was nice and I enjoyed mycherry coke. There are at least 3 other places in Lakeland with pho or ramen about a million times more flavorful. Read more
Why haven?t I come here sooner? Why didn?t I come here sooner? WHY did I not come here sooner?!? *smacks self in the... head* Saigon Bistro is a getaway for your taste buds, heart and belly. It is so good and I am upset with myself for notvisiting sooner when I had been wanting to. Their food is such authentic Vietnamese, and none of it is real fancy but it?s justwonderful. I am especially obsessed with their pineapple fried rice, in which they literally cut a pineapple in half, fry therice and protein and veggies together and stick it right back into the pineapple to serve to you. Holy moly, I am going to visitagain soon to have that because it?s perfection. The curry is good here, and so many other options. Oh yes, and a fun boba teawhile you wait too- what?s not to like?! Saigon is such an unassuming gem, as it doesn?t look like much from the outside, or theinside really. It?s not a super cute or fancy place, but the product makes all the experience. Had awesome food! I switched out a drink and the staff didnt charge me at all :) so nice of her!! Definately going next time!
Cute lil spot in Lakeside Village I've been going to since college. I decided to try the chicken ramen since they expanded their... menu Pros: My server Kaleigh was lovely. The noodles had a pleasant chewy texture, the menma was well marinated, and thescallions added a crisp freshness Cons: the egg is slightly less than hard boiled and not marinated. The mushrooms had a goodtexture but an odd sweetness and the chicken was stringy and a little off tasting. The broth was also creamy colored but tastedlike broth flavored water.
