The calamari fries were very interesting and delicious. The dipping sauces were perfect with it. However we both ordered ... burgers and they were both burned and dry. My onion rings were even a bit over done. On top of that as soon as the burgers werebrought to us we asked for mayo, the waiter then saw to a table of 12 while waited for mayo to dress our burgers. I ended upgoing to the front counter to get the mayo myself and by then my dry burned burger was also cold. This restaurant is fantastic. I can't believe such a restaurant exists in Lake Jackson, being a fairly small town. The food... was excellent, and on par with high-level Houston restaurants. It just had that special, delicious taste and fancy presentationthat you only get with higher-level restaurants. I don't know if it's the head chef, the recipes, the ingredients, or acombination of those. But those who have had enough really good restaurant food know what I'm talking about. And the priceswere incredible. We had a bottle of wine, plus meals for 4 adults and 1 child, and the grand total was like $120, and thatincludes tip. If we didn't have the wine, it would have been well below $100 -- for 4 adults and 1 child at a very nicesit-down restaurant! I really liked the bakery display in the front of the restaurant when you walk in -- gives the restauranta nice higher-level feel. Our waitress was very genuinely sweet. She struck the perfect balance of care-taking, but notchecking up too often. (This was Saturday evening 9/03/2022.) If you are in the Freeport / Brazosport / Clute / Lake Jackson /Brazoria area, this should be your first choice. Wifey & I went there last night, we sat down @ kalab our waiter greeted us. Says just fyi kitchen closes in 7 minutes. We were... concerned how will the food be since only 7 minutes before the kitchen closes. Here we go. After 10 minutes we got Red Fish onpolenta and Salmon with wasabi was very surprised the wasabi was fresh not the kind you get with Sushi. Very surprised. Bothdishes were ? Outstanding ?. The fish were both ? Outstanding ?. The chief is Excellent. Kalab our waiter was Excellent he didrush us very very friendly. He made our visit a place to, definitely ? Recommend ?. Good lunch choice if you are in the LJ area and you don?t eat fast food. I got the Californian wrap with a side Caesar salad.... The Caesar salad was pretty delicious with fresh vegetables and I have to say the dressing is really good. I believe it?svegetarian so no anchovies. The wrap was OK. The vegetables were a little salty in my opinion but it was still an OK lunch. Ireally like that it had goat cheese and hummus in the wrap. If I was in the area I would definitely get the salad again probablywith chicken as an entrée. But I would not order the wrap again. Oh and the employees were super nice on the phone and inperson. We were in Lake Jackson for a day and decided to eat at The Local. Wow. From the cocktails to the desert, everything was top... notch. My wife had the wasabi crusted salmon and I had the Angus Filet. The filet was cooked to perfection, the asparagus weredeliciously smokey with a nice crunch but very tender, the fried onions were outstanding... Just fantastic! We shared ablueberry lemon creme brulee for dessert. I am very critical of my creme brulee and this one was outstanding! Would definitelyrecommend! Read more

My husband and I have dined with this establishment twice, both time were wonderful! The staff is kind and attentive. The... restaurant is clean, very cozy, and has tons of natural lighting. The food is excellent! We have had their steak, chicken friedsteak, pork shanks, balsamic chicken breast, and their appetizers are awesome too! My husband enjoyed a prickly pear margaritaand I a Moscow mule. We haven't had anything we didn't enjoy. We highly recommend this place! We will definitely be back! Read more
