Reviews for The Geneva Inn in Lake Geneva, WI
A very nice place to stay and enjoy lake views. But it seems the front desk staff is not as nice as before. (Attitude and a... tone of the conversation) Maybe it's a one time thing. Will see next time if we decide to come back. Read more
4-star hotel??? That's what I was hoping for but was sadly disappointed. For starters, The Geneva Inn is way over-priced for... what you get. It's a mediocre hotel that's not within walking distance of anything. We checked in after a 6 hour drive andwere greeted by a robotic front desk clerk who may as well have been working at a Speedway gas station instead of a "4-star"hotel. After we got to our mediocre room that had hairs on the bathroom sink from a previous occupant and Holiday Inn decor, we went to the bar to grab a refreshing libation. As we started to walk towards a table in the almost empty bar we were toldthat we could only sit in a certain area. I wouldn't have minded if it would have been done in a courteous way, but it wasn't. We then waited for 10 to 15 minutes for one of the waitstaff to take our order but they ignored us. Not one of them asked if weneeded anything. So we left and got a drink and dinner in town, and we didn't exactly feel like getting in the car again. Because of that poor customer service, we didn't bother to dine or drink at the hotel at all during our stay. The lobby is verysmall, tacky decor and there aren't any vending machines anywhere. Did I mention that you have to drive to get somewherebecause it's not within walking distance of anything. The website lists a Gift Shop and when I asked where it was the clerksaid that they sell t-shirts and mugs at the front desk and that's their Gift Shop. Um, what? There were a few employees thatwere very good, but the service was really hit and miss overall. The whole weekend I kept wishing we'd stayed at the otherhotels where we were dining and enjoying some drinks. It was super depressing. On the up side, the room was a good size, niceand quiet and the bed was comfy. I wouldn't have given such a bad review if the price was about half of what we actually paid, but I really expected a magical experience at a boutique hotel for that price and was sorely let down. We had an intimate wedding (56 guests) at the Inn in August and it was fabulous. From the accommodations, service, food... everything turned out perfectly. We have since received many compliments about the food and how delicious it was. We've dinedin Grandview a few times and the food was one of the reasons we selected the venue. The day after the wedding we held a privatebreakfast in the restaurant too. Our ceremony was on the patio outside, with beautiful views of the lake you can't go wrong! Iwould highly recommend hosting an event at the hotel in addition to staying overnight. Thank you to the Geneva Inn team!! Read more
Several Reason paid $440 with taxes for room. This was a king size suite with water view. Unfortunately I was very... disappointed! Sheets were stained with something, under bed was dirty with something either food or dust. House keepingdefinitely did not clean. The Tub was broken and would not hold water. Thermostat was terrible to work. Never did figure itout. Patio k Door did not fit outside door jam so bugs crawled in. We Went to dinner in restaurant. Where we sat bench was allcut up and carpet tiles were fraying on ends. Cost of meal was outrageous for the meal you got. We Ordered desert and wassupposed to come with ice cream but did not. Waitress never came back for refills of drinks or bread. The Room very drab whenit comes to decorations. For such an expensive room should of felt more homey. Front desk was very helpful at checkin. Went here for our anniversary and it was wonderful! We had a room with a view of the lake and got to see the sunset from our... balcony. It was a very relaxing weekend. Make sure you have dinner at the restaurant, food was wonderful with very tender steak.???? It's also not in town, which we really liked because it was so peaceful and quiet. Very beautiful and clean Inn. We willreturn. The ride to town was short, but make sure if you go you pay for parking. Signs are not well posted everywhere so if youthink you're parking where you don't have to pay, you're wrong. We learned the hard way with a ticket plus a service charge. Read more
Arrived yesterday and was greeted promptly by a friendly desk clerk. The room was ready and was very clean! The view was... amazing. Great job to the housekeeping team. I made the mistake of leaving the screen door open on the patio and a million bugschecked in on the ceiling. The clerk immediately moved me to another room without hesitation and gave that room to the bugs forthe night. Dinner in the Grandview was excellent, nice atmosphere and excellent views. The checkout process was quick and theclerk thanked us for staying. Great atmosphere and great customer service. I will definitely be back. Read more
This is a lovely hotel overlooking the lake of Genva. This hotel is very difficult to get in on weekends as we stayed here... during the week. We were lucky to get a room as well because there are not many in this boutique hotel. The restraunt in thehotel is delicious and also has a great view. I like how the hotel sits on a hill so you can overlook much of the lake. Youconsistently see luxury cars at this hotel but the prices are not through the roof. Yes they are high but the could probablycharge more and get it. If you have the opportunity be sure to stay at this hotel. Read more
