After having traveled to 74 countries so far, I must say that Truffe Sauvage is one of the best restaurants I?ve ever been to. ... The service and quality of food is by the far the best in Lake Charles. I even make a special trip all the way from Austin todine here and see the talented and funny chef/owner Arthur. He really has an amazing operation going with passionate anddedicated staff that are all integral to the experience. Needless to say we will be returning back on our next trip to LakeCharles. Food quality was fresh, plated very nicely. Portions are on the smaller side so you may want to order a appetizer, soup or salad... with your meal. Staff was very attentive and courteous and took their time with all the tables explaining the drink lists andmenu items. I was fortunate to get a table without reservation, but if you plan to eat here call ahead and reserve a table theyare very limited on space and spots fill up fast only being open a couple days a weeks for a few hours a day. I would have rated5 stars but it was a little warm in the dining area and some things on the menu were just a little off for my taste however itwas different from any normal dining experience and was very enjoyable. Small, cozy, quaint, and upscale. I came in dressed in jeans and a t-shirt with my coworkers. We were terribly under dressed for... this restaurant. We were still treated with respect and dignity, even if the other patrons gave us the stink-eye. Plates startaround $30+, appetizers are $10+, so it's not a place I can go daily. Being from DFW, I wanted to try this place at least once.I had the snapper, and it was fantastic! The NY strip my coworker ordered looked even better, I was envious. Each plate ismeticulously prepped and cared for, to give the feeling that the chef made this plate specifically for you. Ambiance is lovely, you can really come in to have a couple glasses of wine or beer to relax and have casual conversation. Spring isn't the besttime because being so close to the water, termites were an issue... It was out of the control of the restaurant, so they can'tbe faulted for Nature being Nature. Read more
