We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Cane & Canoe during our recent stay at the Montage. We dined on their outdoor patio and had the... most delightful and attentive waiter. We started our evening with the Charred Spanish Octopus and the Hua Momona Farms Caesar.Both were wonderful! For our entrees, I ordered the Fish of the Moment which was Opacapaca (Hawaiian pink snapper) and myhusband had the Australian Lamb Rack. Both cooked to perfection and delicious! They had a Caymus Cabernet (hubby’s favorite)that paired excellent with the lamb, and a Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio (one of my favorites) that complemented my fish, so wewere both in heaven. For dessert I had to try Monet’s Pineapple Upside Down (WOW!) and my husband ordered the Artisan CheesePlate. We also ate breakfast here each morning which was always excellent. Overall a disappointment. We were a party of four (two couples) and did the $99 pp 2 course prix fixe, no bread service. The... Good: our server Ricky was very friendly and attentive. The gentleman playing guitar and singing Hawaiian songs was perfect. The starters were outstanding (we tried the octopus, hamachi, lobster Mac ‘n cheese and Caesar salad). The baked Hawaiiandesert was amazing. The view and property are spectacular. The Bad: the women ordered ‘Fish of the Moment’ (opaka opaka)was cooked nicely but lacked flavor (salt?). The gentleman had the filet. One ordered medium rare and the other rare. The rarecame medium rare and the other medium. The cut seemed of good quality but again, lacked flavor - the complete opposite of thefilet we experienced the night before at Merriman’s. You have to question ability when a even a steak’s serving temperaturecannot be executed properly! They redid a new rare filet but it took much too long. It was served as other were having dessert. They could have/should have said the second cocktail I had while waiting was ‘on the house’ but didn’t. So, in myopinion, this place is really only good for HH and/or if you can just stick to starters. Read more
The food was unique and very delicious. Cocktails were some of the best we had on all the islands. Our server was wonderful! He... was very friendly and attentive, even as the place got busier through the night. I can't eat gluten and there were so manychoices for me on this menu - it was great! Highly suggest this restaurant and the neighboring bar. If we had the funds and werethe couple that liked resort-style vacations, I would definitely stay on grounds too... The place was beautiful! My wife and I ate dinner and breakfast at Cane and Canoe on Nov 16 for our honeymoon. My wife requires gluten free and this... restraunt was extremely accomading. Delicious gf waffles or pancakes with a great platter of fruit. We decided this was the bestbreakfast we had ever had so would return for dinner. With expectations high for dinner. We let them know ahead of time it wasour honeymoon so they reserved the best table for us as shown in the photos. The chef gave us a complimentary veggie cup whichwas great. The food was delicious. I highly reccomend this restraunt for any meal. Yes the price is high but welcome to Mauilol. It's 2022 everything in the world is expensive these days. I ordered a lobster add on and it cost $40 which is reasonablefor lobster in Maui. We are so pleased with our choice to stay at the montage and we are happy such a great restraunt as a go towhenever we need. Read more
