I don?t know what the heck happened or what is going on but if the desolate looking dining room compared to the packed in... Parking lot over at the North End Cafe is any reflection then by all indications those patrons are also very unimpressed!!!Notsure what is going on; but I can only say this place USED to be the one place I could reliably stop in and get my breakfastcooked exactly as I ordered and not rubbery hash browns cold and cooked over in poorly executed attempt to make them appear asthough they were cooked crispy as I asked. And the real kick in the a$$ is SUNNY DELITE juice DRINK that they apparently thinkcan be passed off as ORANGE JUICE. Really!?!?!? Sunny Delight. THAT bs right there. There is no added sugar and flavoring inReal OJ. And I don?t bother even telling them when asked ?how everything was?. I?m sure they know exactly how it is which is howthey should expect it to be = exactly as designed to be =unimpressive! Not that they really want to know and not that I reallycare to lie or waste my time telling them. That?s what Google is for I guess. Used to be a small mom and pop, haven't visited in years and expected nostalgia. We waited around an hour for our food and it... tasted like I could have made it at home, in faster time. It looks the same as back then but the atmosphere isn't mom and popshop. It's just business and impersonal. :( Read more
It was a fantastic experience!!!!! A perfect breakfast joint. We loved the food. The coffee was so good. Going back soon.
Great place for breakfast food. We had the Chopped steak breakfast (which is basically a hamburger patty), and the kid's... chicken tender basket. I've also had the Lumberjack and the Mexican Omelette - both are great, and the Lumberjack is plenty offood. Prices are good - it's hard to spend a lot here, and the coffee refills keep coming when you need that energy. Theserver was impressively flexible and understanding of my fitness diet and offered some good substitutions without me even sayinganything. Read more
I had been to the Downtowner for the first time years ago, but hadn't reviewed it. Today, I decided to stop by and see if the... food was as good today as it was the last time I stopped in for breakfast. I had the two sweet cream pancakes and link sausagewith coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed the pancakes, which had a dense consistency and lightly sweet flavor. I also found the sausagelinks to be good and noticed that they were served in a casing. The coffee wasn't anything special and was so hot that Icouldn't drink much of it until I was nearly done with my food. Overall, not a bad breakfast with fairly quick service. If youdo go and don't want to sit at the bar, prepare to wait. Tables here are at a premium. Read more
This was our first visit to the Downtowner. Our waitress was only on her second day. It's seat yourself so we went right in and... pick our seats. We were greeted almost instantly. Took our orders and brouht drinks immediately the food came quickly and wasdelicious. Big portions for the price definitely worth it. We got biscuits and gravy sausage, bacon, sausage, pancake, toast andeggs. Everything was superb! We will definitely be back to The Downtowner! Service, food and quality was excellent! Read more
