Reviews for Farmhouse Kitchen and Inn in La Pointe, WI
Showed up Saturday at 11am. Took 30 minutes to get in line, order, and get a mimosa and a beer, and I had to remind the guy... taking orders to get it. The staff seemed to be doing their best, but it was just disappointingly slow. Read more
We had a pretty bad experience here. The food was overpriced. There is an automatic gratuity added to your total right when you... order, before you even get any service. No sign or anything telling you that before you order. Restaurant was only half fulland it took us an hour to get our food. We had to go get our own coffee. Only thing that the staff did was bring us ourfood. Food was ok when it finally came out. Unfortunately the options for breakfast is very limited on the island. I wouldn'trecommend this place. Absolutely disgusting food and waaaay over priced. Ditch the name and call it yuppie hipster trash shack. We were just looking... for a quick reasonable bite to eat and ended up throwing $40 worth of food (two breakfast meals) in the trash Read more
Every time I stop, I look forward to seeing what the rotating options are! There's usually a smaller selection, but everything... is delicious. The staff is always top notch-kind, patient, and very good with the droves of tourists. (I've been in hospitalityin a tourist city for a decade - mad respect for this team!) Wonderful choices on coffees, beers, and beers with coffee in them!My photo is of the savory waffle and a breakfast beer - both excellent. I always look forward to leisurely Monday morning brunchhere when I visit! Read more
The food and drinks were excellent. The inn was as good as it can get on a small northern island with a very short tourist... season. :) The beds were comfortable. It was not bad, just hard to swallow the price tag knowing what you can get on mainlandfor that price. Overall, I would go there again if I couldn't find something comparable less expensive. Location is prime -across from the ferry landing. Complementary pastry in the morning sweetened the deal :) Read more
We stayed one night in the Farmhouse Hayloft. We were very dissatisfied with our stay and the ridiculous price we were charged.... Zero star rating. Pros: A bed (not very comfortable) and running water. Cons: Check in over phone was painfully slow and personhelping didn't know policies of inn. Charge of $318 ( $75 per dog for our 2 well-behaved, non-shedding golden doodles) for onenight for a room which measured apprx. 9 x 11, had slanted floor, little storage, and a toilet that was not balancedproperly. There was no delivery of scones/pastries to our room in the morning (as they advertise), because the innkeeper"forgot". After expressing our disappointment to manager, we were told that she would discuss with the inn's owner and perhapsoffer a discount for a future stay. We have not heard a word back. If you're planning a trip to beautiful Madeline Island, especially if traveling with dogs, I recommend you do so far in advance so as to avoid being in the position we were in. Stayingin a third rate accommodation which is poorly managed, which failed to deliver advertsed amenities and being charged aridiculously high rate for the experience. Read more
