The $$ restaurant experience was perfectly normal/pleasant if not a little cramped inside at full capacity. Alongside that, it... was pretty noisy and difficult to have a conversation without adding to the cacophony. Food-wise, all the usual Mexican stapleswere on the menu. I tried a taco, tamale, and enchilada. Visually they were very appealing, but mediocre at best for taste. Thecrispy tortilla was chewy from too much oil and none of the flavors were particularly noteworthy. The house margarita was betterthan a well drink, but nothing to get excited about. Bottom line, the bar for mexican food is high in SD so you're better offjust going around the corner to Taco Stand. Read more

Nice little Mexican restaurant. Good portions, kids shared a quesadilla at the recommendation of the waitress and she was bang... on, especially after they demolished the free tortilla chips! $70- Reasonable price for a family of 4 with 2 alcoholic drinks -margarita was lovely but a bit too much salt for me (read about this particular issue on previous reviews) Waitress veryapologetic for being short staffed but we didn?t notice and issues and certainly didn?t affect our meal. Absolutely loved the food, freshly made salsa. I always say if you can tell that they take the time to make outstanding refried... beans, all the rest will be excellent and it was. Read more

I have to give this a 2 stars for several reasons. The service wasn?t good at all, we were left waiting throughout our visit.... The food was mediocre at best. This isn?t real Mexican food, it lacked flavor. The Chile Relleno I ordered was quite small anddeep fried. You could taste the burnt oil even though they lathered it with so much cheese, onion and peppers. The queso fundidowas just Monterey Jack cheese melted onto a plate with very sparse chorizo pieces on top, again no flavor. If you want realMexican food this isn?t the place. Read more

My husband and I were excited to try out a new Mexican restaurant. Sadly, we were not impressed. The service was slow and my... husband?s horchata didn?t come until we reminded the host and our server. I ordered a chicken taco and a chicken tamale. Myhusband ordered beef enchiladas. It took a long time before we got our food. My tamale was completely cold and the texture waslike it had been in the freezer and microwaved (but not long enough). I told the host and she took my entire plate back to thekitchen. My husband finished his enchiladas, which were fine but nothing special, before I got my new plate of food. The tamalewas hot but it was not chicken like I ordered and it was very salty. I asked the server to take the tamale off our bill becauseit did not taste good and was not what I ordered. My chicken taco was fine but again, nothing special. We will not return tothis restaurant. Read more

Third time visiting. The waitress was great. The food not so much. Too salty. The first margarita great. The second not so good.... We were asked if we needed more sweetener. Yes please. $20 more for one shot. She didn?t give us a heads up. It showed on ourfinal bill. Our Cadillac margaritas were $14 each. So for 4 was $76. My husband paid the whole bill with 15% tip. We usually tip20%, or more. And said is ok. Last time we?ll give them a penny. Too bad, we live in the neighborhood, kind of our loss too. Read more

Great neighborhood authentic Mexican joint in north Birdrock. Great food and drinks and the kind of place the locals go to.... Friendly, quick service and just a really great laid back vibe inside! Read more
