We are so lucky to have this delightful shop in the village. My weekly haul is usually a couple of incredible sandwiches, a... sheep or goat milk cheese, fennel salami, some fresh pasta and pesto, and a baguette for my picky daughter (who?s also beenknown to make an outfit from the freebie cheese stickers). Great experience from start to finish. Mike answered the phone quickly and was able to answer all my questions without any... hesitation. His knowledge in the charcuterie world is outstanding. After a few minutes talking, I took his lead on making aperfect tray for a friend?s engagement party. I picked it up a day later and without a doubt the best charcuterie tray I havehad. This was my second time ordering sandwich and charcuterie platters from Smallgoods, and it was a hit with the guests each time!... I love the unique, sourced ingredients, and the amazing variety. The owners are wonderful to work with, they customized themeat and cheese trays, and recommended a great mix of sammies. The presentation was so pretty, everyone was asking where thefood was from. Jenn and Mike were so accommodating with the last order. I needed lunch for a few unexpected guests, and theywere able to build two platters in record time. Not only was the plate amazing, but the owners are wonderful! There was a misunderstanding in my order, and I didn't realize it... until after leaving the shop... but the owners sorted it out with me over the phone, were beyond kind, and went above and beyondto make things right. Top notch, genuine customer service that I appreciated so much. The platter was delicious and beautiful,and it's just a short walk to the beach. Mike is easily the most knowledgeable meat connoisseur I've ever come across. I've been all over the country and tried meats... from many different places but nothing has come close to what Small Goods has been able to source. I recently had the privilegeto get my hands on an exclusive small batch Saucisson Sec shipped in from Babette's Table in Vermont and the experience wastotally divine. Visiting SmallGoods is definitely a must have, one of a kind Artisan experience if you find yourself in LaJolla. Extremely impressive! Read more
Absolutely lovely place. Owners are very helpful and knowledgeable - they know their cheeses and charcuterie. Great prices for... high-quality cheeses. We ordered cheese + charcuterie trays for hiking in Anza Borrego, and we couldn't be happier with theselection. Just yum! They recommended smaller plates rather than a big platter for portability while hiking, and it workedreally well. They even included a list of the cheeses and charcuterie. Very pleased. Read more
Fantastic cheese shop in La Jolla. We were so thrilled to stumble on this gem in our search of good bread. We indeed found a... great baguette but we also got to enjoy great cheese and produce, including the incredible smoked duck! This place is such agreat concept in showcasing quality American cheese. As fellow Aussies, we also really enjoyed our chat with the owner. Wewished we had more time to return and enjoy more cheese! Would highly recommend. Read more
