We did extensive research on the best sushi/omakase spot in San Diego and this was one of the recommended spots. We were able... to get a seat at the sushi bar in front of the sushi chefs to experience their omakase. Was it good, yes; was it amazing, no(not enough for the price IMO). There were delicious dishes inside of the omakase but as a whole, not worthy. The poke-inspireddish & the oysters were some of the notable ones. @phidingthefam Read more

My wife and I went for my Birthday and had the Omakase experience and Miguel and his staff did not disappoint. I've had plenty... of sushi in my life and if you're looking for a dine in experience with some top quality sushi, friendly staff and a greatselection of Sake then I recommend you add this location to your 'must try' list if you are wver in the area. I've included somephotos of my omakase experience. Read more

Came here for lunch, as it's one of the few premium sushi restaurants in San Diego that does a lunch seating. Patio was really... nice and well shaded. Chirashi was of the highest quality, and I was impressed by the quality not only of the bluefin but alsofresh scallop, Norwegian salmon, even the albacore. I appreciated the freshly ground wasabi as well. The roll was OK, butdefinitely second fiddle to the sushi and sashimi. My friend got the bento box which came with choice of yellowtail or salmoncollar (kama), and seemed pretty hardy. Price was a little on the higher end, but that's La Jolla Cove. There's a small parkinglot and street parking nearby. Read more

Lovely reviews I see, so we decided to give it a try. I am a bit spoiled for having travelled extensively in Japan, so my review... may be a little biased. Granted, I am a purist when it comes to sushi, so the mexican touches on the rolls where not to myliking. If I concentrate solely on freshness and quality, there are good points and low points. The Ikura was not great, verysmall, and bland. The fatty salmon on the other hand was great, as was the locally sourced Uni. The specialty rolls, whereabsolutely not special at all. One of them had the top layer of fish completely smushed and dry. The scallop roll was like avery small taco. The fried crab “specialty” roll was just weird, and thinly sliced, which made it a challenge to pick up.The quality/prep of the rice was off. Also, the orders where one by one, meaning on ikura order for example is just one piece.I’m pretty sure there is a rule against that. Overall I feel that the chefs are amateurs in over their heads, and do notrespect the artistry and culture established by the sushi gods. An experience not to be repeated for me. Read more

Wow, we came here for dinner tonight for our 1 year wedding anniversary and what a wonderful experience it was. The atmosphere... was lovely and the food was out of control. Our server, Thomas, was so attentive and totally on board when we asked him and thechefs to pick our nigiri for us. We were deeply impressed with his service and had such a fun time chatting with him. Themanager came and checked on us multiple times and clearly cared about the restaurant the customers experience. Everyone wentabove and beyond to make our night a special one and we will be raving about this place to all our family and friends! Thesushi was probably the best we have had. The hamachi and salmon special appetizer was incredible, the uni so unbelievably fresh, and we were so delighted by the red bean and black sesame ice cream to top off the meal. We truly don’t have enough goodthings to say about this place. Read more
