We had postponed Thanksgiving this year and didn't have a place to go. We drove to Lagrange in the hopes of getting a steak and... found FourteenSixteen. They were only serving a Thanksgiving meal, they had already taken their last reservation but made roomfor us late comers. Everything had great flavor. We had a very good first time experience. We hosted a party on 1416's rooftop and had a fantastic experience. The food was excellent, came out piping hot, and received... rave reviews from the guests (especially the curds!). The service was great, and the rooftop made a beautiful casual chicsetting between the greenery and lights. Andrew, the event lead, was very responsive and helped us select a great menu for theevent. The staff here is amazing. Everyone is incredibly welcoming and professional. The restaurant looks great (incredibly clean,... great ambiance) and so does the food. But, most of the food we ate was kind of tasteless. The chopped salad was perfection. Thekids' chicken tenders were fine. But, that was it. We had the fried chicken, walleye, and burger and they all were either notseasoned AT ALL or dramatically under-seasoned. The accompanying "veggies" tasted a bit soggy (mushrooms/ramp and onions), likethey may have been defrosted? The fries were insanely oversalted. But, were probably pretty good (crisp/tasty) otherwise. Reallyrandom, the water was ridiculously good. So, crisp and the temperature, just great. It wasn't a very busy night, so I'm not surewhat the issue with the food was. But, dish after dish, after the salad, we were pretty disappointed. Held my bridal shower here and the rooftop fit 36 people comfortably. Andrew the event coordinator was so great to work with and... kept the party going on day of. Would highly recommend using the rooftop space for events! I got a ton of compliments on thefood and drinks too. Read more
At first I got a weird vibe when asked if the rooftop was available when greeted by what I think was a manager and hostess. They... looked at us and each other, which was awkward and uncomfortable and made us feel unwelcome. The server was the one who made usfeel welcome and comfortable. He recalled my in-laws dining in from the previous week and their order. He was knowledgeable ofthe menu and suggested a great substitute for the wine I wanted. This is a wonderful little gem in the perfect location. Wonderful menu, friendly staff, and great vibe. The wood-fired Prime... Coulotte was amazing. It was seriously the most tender, melt in your mouth, steak I've ever had. My friend's walleye was alsoexcellent. The greeter and our server were very nice, friendly, and attentive. Special kudos to the teenage staff that broughtus water. He made eye contact, held a conversation with witty banter, and was so kind. The only thing that could have beenbetter was the ramp flatbread. The presentation and flavor was excellent. However the crust was so rubbery that it was next toimpossible to eat. A knife wouldn't even cut through it. Visited for dinner on a Saturday. We had reservations and were seated quickly. There were plenty of open tables though. Service... was great. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was average. The steak was cooked as requested but a little dry andwasn’t very flavorful. The scallops smelled delicious but also lacked the flavor we expected.
