We ordered an appetizer and each had an entree. I had beef and it was either very low quality beef or overcooked. It was rubbery... and didn't have much flavor to it. My wife had sushi and was pleased with her meal as well as the appetizer. It is somethingthat we would try again due to its popularity. Maybe I caught them on an off day with the beef particularly. The wait staff was friendly, the food was great, and the portions were huge. I got the Beef and Scallops Combo and a cup of hot... green tea. Everything was delicious, and I had leftovers to eat the next day! Highly recommend coming here! Read more
TL;DR: Get the corn croquettes! This unassuming eatery is tucked away in a quiet location -- and despite this, when we came in... for a late lunch around 3:15 pm on a game-day Saturday, it was bustling with activity! The interior is decorated cheerfully, with walls that are half painted and half wooden boaed. The red and yellow paint on the was offset by neutral stone floors.Dark wooden panels provide a natural contrast to the bright paint, softened further by dark wood tables and chairs. A perfectbalance of natural textures and exciting colors that make for an appetizing interior! We were seated immediately. Our server wasfriendly and quickly arrived to ask for our drinks. We ordered water and the corn tots (a corn and potato croquette). When theyarrived, the croquettes were piping hot. Crispy and delicious. The waitress suggested trying them with shrimp sauce -- yum! Weboth had a teriyaki entree. Be aware! This comes with both rice and noodles. The starches will certainly fill you up. Veggieswere cooked well and a good variety which included the usual suspects for our local Japanese restaurants -- onion, broccoli, mushroom, and zucchini. The proteins were coated in a light and slightly caramelized teriyaki sauce. One bite and the nostalgiawas immediate -- it reminded my husband of the halcyon days of shopping mall food courts. I couldn't disagree, and the food wasdelicious. We saw three lucky cats waving at us smilingly from the corner of the restaurant. We really enjoyed Mikata and willbe back! Now that Misaki is gone, this may be our new favourite! Read more
Food is always delicious. But? this is the second time in a row service has been what I would consider sub par. Same lady server... both times and she just plain rude. For instance after taking our order, or brining food, we kindly say, ?thank you? andliterally get no response. Ask for sauce and get an ultra dramatic eye roll. Kind of ridiculous to ask for a tip after treatingpatrons this way in my opinion. Maybe they should go back to take out only? Read more
