Went there for first time today, given all the hype I feel it receives it was pretty disappointing. I had half a pimento cheese... ham biscuit and half of the bagel sandwich, each was $9. The biscuit was teeny tiny and pretty dry and the other sandwich wasdry and had no flavor. Maybe the breakfast platters are worth the price, idk. But those sandwiches were not worth $9. Happy to see Frothy Monkey come to Knoxville! Enjoyed the brunch this morning. The omelette and jam flavors were good. Tried the... beer mosa which was fabulous. Would prefer mimosa but apparently liquor license is pending. Great location, friendly staff,prompt service. It was unbearably hot on the second floor. Good food, good coffee, but . . . Though I definitely recommend Frothy Monkey for brunch, it also seems like a restaurant that... is still figuring out how to use their space. We went on a Sunday around 10:30 AM. The wait was minimal, the service was good,and the food and coffee didn?t disappoint. The only reason I am giving it a 4 out of 5 Is because the restaurant itself reallylacks personality and coherence. The ambiance is poor and the dining spaces, both indoor and outdoor, feel like things mightstill be under construction. There is no décor to create a vibe. The small coffee counter is tucked into the front left cornerand the large & beautiful cocktail bar is hidden away in the back corner. Even the entryway feels temporary. The hostess standis too close to the front door, so customers wait awkwardly, trying to figure out who is in the line to get coffee to go, andwho is waiting for a table. This certainly seems like a temporary problem that will sort itself out. Food-wise, the portions arelarge and were brought to the table warm & fresh from the kitchen. I had a vegetable omelette and side of grits. The omelettewas perfect, and the grits were good, but a little dry/crumbly. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and loved it. We bothordered specialty coffees. He ordered a vanilla latte and felt it was perfect. I ordered a seasonal drink ? ?Milk?s favoritecoffee? ? and it was weird. The color was a greenish-brown and the drink was not very sweet. Overall, if you are thinking oftrying Frothy Monkey, you should go! Read more
