Disappointing, use to be our favorite place for Mexican food but something has definitely changed since our last visit. My... favorite dish, nachos carne asada, was the same price but the portion was smaller. My husband ordered 2 a la crate burritos (they mistakenly brought and charged us for 3 ). The were the usual size as he had always gotten; however, after they weredelivered to the table, a different waitress came over to deliver a message. She wanted to let us know that the burritos theybrought were not the size of the normal a la carte burritos and that cook had made a mistake, but they were gonna ?leave it likethat?. We paid 2.75 for a coke and another 2.75 for a refill. When we went to pay the bill the waitress couldn?t get my card torun, she was so rough with it I thought she was going to brake it. After few attempts she smugly turned to me and said, ?Youdon?t have another card?? Sadly, that?ll be our last trip there. Read more
After reading positive reviews about El Metate the family and I decided to go there for dinner tonight. To begin with we waited... for quite a while on our food and then only half the food was brought out. I was halfway done before my father even received hismeal. I ordered the nachos Pastor which were supposed to contain marinated pork and pineapples and sour cream. What I got was aplate of very mediocre nacho chips, what I guess was pork because it was so over cooked I?m not sure and I believe I countedthree pieces of pineapple and what appeared to be some very watery sour cream. When trying a new Mexican restaurant I?ll alwaysget nachos because that?s what I like to make my judgment on. These were not good. If a Mexican restaurant cannot handle nachosthen I have very little hope for the rest of the menu. My mother my father and my nephew none like their meals for variousreasons. Always good food and good service. Just wish more of their staff understood English. On 2 different occasions I asked staff... there a question and just got a blank stare and a shake of the head without getting me what I asked them for. If you don'tunderstand send a worker over that can help. Really good food though. Read more
An excellent example of a fine Mexican eatery! Wonderful staff, and they make the best fried ice cream around. I'm partial to... tacos, and their shredded beef and chicken tacos are flavorful and very generous. Let's not forget the chicken tortilla soup,amazing & VERY generous! Hubby likes the fish entrees.
