What?s not to love about Barleys? You?ve got live music, great food, and Phillip's excellent service. Grab a few friends and... head on to Barleys. Barley?s is a good place to go anytime. Lunch is super calm and they?re quick their service. It gets kind of busy on the... weekends, but I?ve never had an issue here. I usually just get wings and fries or pizza, or both! Read more
Barley's is an excellent choice in the Old City. We ventured out for a quick lunch. It's nice to have a free parking option in... downtown. Those are hard to come by during the day. Their selection for lunch was great. I got the Chicken Bacon Avocado Wrap.It was delicious. I had the sweet potato waffle fries for a side. Perfect portion for lunch and the prices were great too. Wow. This was such a great experience! We were tourists and out of towners passing through Knoxville from Gatlinburg to... Nashville and had to stop in to watch Ohio State play (and lose!!!) to Oregon. Since there was a home Tennessee game, this HUGEsports bar was completely empty. First floor had 5 people, and upstairs had 4 people including us. Lesson learned, people in thesouth actual GO to the games while people in the west go to sports bars to watch their teams play... With that out of the way,we were upstairs and the bartender was one of the best, friendliest, and sweetest bartenders I've ever come across. She let ustaste a variety of beers from their 40+ taps as we're from Oregon and love beer, especially IPA's. She was so engaging andhelpful and really made our entire experience special. She even turned one of the TV's away from the Tennessee game so we couldwatch Ohio State and Oregon play. Besides this awesome waitress/bartender (who needs to move to Portland and show people in thehospitality industry what TRUE hospitality really is!) the rest of Barleys was awesome too. Beautiful old brick building withoriginal wood floors. Huge tap selection upstairs and downstairs. Big new flat-screen TV's to watch games on. Cool covered patioarea outside. Pool and some video games upstairs. Pizza was really good and their appetizer of pita, sausage and pimento cheesewas unique and really tasty as well. We were passing through the area looking for a pizza place. We stumbled across Barley?s and wasn?t disappointed. The atmosphere... was amazing and the food was good. I absolutely loved the older building and as a bonus, the young lady serving us was the best!Highly recommended. Read more
Iconic location that?s been around forever. They have live music and trivia, a great beer selection and offer billiards and... games upstairs. We live close by and visit regularly and have found that the food preparation is not very consistent. Spin dipas an appetizer and some days it?s thick and other days it?s thin.. Some days it?s nice and hot, other times it?s barely warm?It?s never bad per se, just never the same dish twice. The pizza, on the other hand, does tend to be somewhat consistent. Mosttimes the wait staff and bartenders are great. We did receive unfriendly service at the downstairs bar once recently but, it wasjust after a UT home game and the restaurant had been very busy, having to use plastic cups for beer, etc. so I?d probably begrumpy as well. Still, no excuse for wearing your emotions on your sleeve in front of guests. Overall, I recommend this placefor a cold beer and some pizza. I also appreciate the vegetarian options for those who do not eat meat. Read more
