What a great little sushi place with an obviously accomplished master and well trained apprentices. Highly recommended.

A really disappointing experience. My wife and I drove to SushiMakio from Kerhonkson, which is a good 35-40 minute drive after... hearing great things about it. We arrived at 7pm for our reservation and were promptly greeted by a server Tim, who was verynice. He took our order around 7:05p and we were quickly given our drinks and our miso soup. The soup was wonderful.Then...things started going downhill. Other tables that arrived after us began receiving their sushi, while we sat without food. Our server never came back to check on us to see if we needed any new drinks, or to give us an update on the food. An hour wentby, and at 8:05pm we finally hunted him down to ask about the food. He told us he would find out what was going on. Another 5-10minutes and he brought over a tiny bowl of root veggies and said they chefs would be getting started on our order soon and itwould just be another 10-15 minutes. Obviously, our order had been forgotten. We chose to drive home after wasting a good 2+hours and returning home without having dinner. The food looked good, and I recognize that mistakes happen. But for the prices, the staff must be able to rectify a situation or at least communicate effectively what's happening, and they were frazzled andnon-communicative. Disappointing. Read more

The best sushi place I have found in the Hudson Valley. The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is always good and... fresh. Read more

The omakase was amazing and worth every penny. Service was kind and polite, restaurant and restrooms were clean, seafood was... exceptionally fresh, and other customers (presumably regulars) seemed to have developed a friendly rapport with staff. This wasmy second time here (previously just here for a regular dinner) and I will be back when I am in the area again. Read more

Excellent sushi, super fresh and creatively prepared. Even though the space is small and in a mini strip mall, the service is... gracious and professional, and the choices of special rolls is extensive. Even the dessert was delicious and unusual; awonderful ginger creme brulee. Read more
