This diner was SO cute! The staff is extremely nice, fast and attentive. The food was fantastic, sure you can get eggs or... waffles anywhere but they don?t taste this good! Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu. Read more
Great food, nice service and pleasant atmosphere. The menu is a bit limited on Sundays, but we all found something to enjoy.... Overall. I thought it was a great spot and would return. As an aside, I wish people would stop complaining about prices in thesereviews. Restaurant margins are slim, and it should be understood that this is just the cost of running a small business thesedays. Read more

Evelyns is a slice of home for me, the big city. The food is the kind you'd have in a busy, metropolitan popular city with lines... down the block. I was in Kingsport for work & Googled top rated restaurants near me. Evelyn's popped up & the photos of the food looked... terrific! It was only 10 minutes away so I decided to give it a try. So glad I did! The restaurant is spacious, clean & nicelyadorned. My server was wonderful... friendly, efficient & SO excited about the restaurant's offerings. She became quite animateddescribing the 'savory waffle' & was especially proud that they ground fresh beans for decaf coffee. The coffee was quite good.The savory waffle was delicious - the perfect amount of sausage chunks cooked into the waffle to give it both great flavor & aheartier texture. I was a little disappointed in the grits. I had cheese added & neither the cheese, nor the butter I added,melted - the grits just weren't adequately heated. I took home most of the grits & part of the waffle. When I reheated the grits& the butter & cheese melted, the grits were also tasty. I will definitely return to this restaurant, but I won't be shy aboutasking for HOT grits. Read more
How have I not known about this place?! I had breakfast this morning at Evelyn?s and was so impressed with the food quality and... service (thank you Hillary). The Country Waffle plate with a side of potatoes was fantastic and way more food than I should haveeaten?but I ate it all! Quaint setting, super friendly staff, and excellent freshly prepared food is all I need to make this aregular stop. Looking forward to trying the lunch and dinner menus along with the Sunday brunch.
