Reviews for The Jolly Roger Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills, NC
PATRONS BEWARE. Go anywhere else in OBX for a better customer experience than here. Waited 45 minutes for a party of 5 adults 3... kids. We were seated at two separate tables we had to combine ourselves. Before sitting down we noticed there was a puddle onone of the tables and floor beside it. Looked up to see the ceiling was leaking. Clearly it had been nailed back together to tryto resolve this issue as a temporary fix at some other time. We alerted our server who walked away for 15 minutes and didn?treturn. We had to go speak to someone up front who literally asked what they want us to do about it. The attitude from the womanat the front was terrible. She agreed to actually go look at the problem about 5 minutes later. Clearly this is not a new issueas she wasn?t alarmed at all that the ceiling is leaking onto the tables. She comes over and asks if we want a bucket to sit onthe table to collect the water or what else we want her to do because it?s an old building and not much she can do. We asked tobe seated elsewhere (something that should have been done and not even suggested that WE had to make) and were told it would beanother 45 minute wait. It has already been 1.5 hours with 3 children so we got up immediately and left. Our actual server neverreturned to even ask if we wanted something to drink while we waited those 15 minutes after being sat for someone to address theissue. Went to Arts Place 5 minutes away and were seated immediately. Spend your money elsewhere. If I would?ve made it todinner, I don?t care what I would?ve had or how good it was, I would?ve ended up throwing up on the woman talking to us becauseher attitude was DISGUSTING. Edited to add the vent in the photo was leaking due to condensation which is understandable. Ourissue was with the actual ceiling to the side of the vent about 2 feet. Wherever that water was coming from it presumably hasdirt, dust etc mixed with it as it lands on the table you?re supposed to eat at. If they?r Read more
Mr and my family had dinner tonight at Jolly Rogers and it did not disappoint. Everything was awesome. Food is so delicious. We... all had Italian except my son had the kids shrimp. The kids shrimp is not popcorn shrimp but real fried shrimp. Which is nottypical. My wife has there bloody Mary. It was very good and spicy. Read more
The staff was awesome.. We went each of the 3times we went to the outer banks. The first time was on our honeymoon. The manager... gave my husband a discount and a small gift..We found out from locals that the owner lost lots of money but stayed open andupdated ventilation during the pandemic.. A business owner with a great love for her employees and those they feed. Theatmosphere inside and out is awesome. The chef made the best steak my husband Ever had. Their cool gifts are quaint. The outsidefun photo opportunity is a nice family friendly memory maker itself. Read more
Great place for a hearty breakfast. Great menu of food offerings; some are very unique to this restaurant (ex: Joe's Pancake... Lasagna). Homemade bourbon sauce is not only great on cinnamon buns, but also great when added to coffee. Our server, Jessica, was fantastic. Servings are huge...and the side pancakes are as big as a plate. Plenty of parking available. Well worth thedrive to dine here. Read more
This is a neat place! Lots to look at if you have a wait. They take your # to text when your table is ready. That's so... convenient. The food was pricey but good! Garlic Bread basket with Oil& Herbs (we ended up ordering a basket to go!),spaghetti and meatballs, spaghetti with meat sauce, Seafood & Spinach dish, Shrimp & Crab Norfolk. Yummy! Read more
This place was adorned in so many Christmas type lights it felt festive and exciting. We got in with a big party and we?re... warned ahead of time that they are short staffed so be patient and courteous. Some of the guests weren?t very nice to serversprior to us. We had no issues with our service and most of the food was delicious, the roast beef was a bit dry and entirely toosalty but the rest was scrumptious. We had some crab legs, tortellini, and a bunch of desserts. Everyone has full drinks anddesserts were yummy. Everything from Italian cake to short cake to brownies! While you ate they had karaoke, very entertainingand fun to sing along to. Not to mention they have so sweet part pieces adoring the place AND a sweet little gift shop with lotsof souvenirs and soooo many ornaments. Read more
Many locals recommended this as a great breakfast joint. I had the Pancake Lasagna ($10) and my husband had the Western Omelet... (make your own...$13 I think). Both were tasty. Service was average, but I don't say that in a bad way necessarily. Gift shopwas a nice distraction while we waited, which wasn't very long. Prices were very reasonable. Read more
This place is awesome! Such a unique and fun exterior and interior (decorations, little shop in the front, seating... areas..). Food is delicious as well. Little on the pricier side but most places at the beach are, and the vibes are totallyworth it. If you are looking for somewhere with great food and a super fun atmosphere, then this is for you!
