Reviews for Gus' Hawaiian Shave Ice in Kihei, HI
So cute and quaint and delicious! High quality ice, very finely shaved. Lots of excellent flavor options. The man working (not... sure if it was Gus) had such a good vibe and it was cool to get to watch him prepare it in the little buss. Also they had twodifferent flavors of condensed milk (coconut and vanilla) which we hadn?t encountered anywhere else on Maui or Oahu. All aroundgreat vibes and great shaved ice. Read more
If you are only able to go to one shaved ice place while you are in Maui, go here! He is not always there, so definitely go if... you see him parked there! He uses a vintage ice shaver and the whole experience is super unique. FYI- He told us he also doesprivate events! Read more
BEST shave ice in Maui!!! We tried quite a few places in Maui and Kauai and never found anything as good as Gus! His ice is nice... and light - not heavily packed - so the final product is light and fluffy. And the syrups are delicious! Would highlyrecommend!!! Read more
If you are in Kihei, paying a visit to Gus the Bus is an absolute must! I expected the shave ice to be amazing, which it was.... What surprised me was the fruit shave. Be prepared for your mind to be blown. Que up the angel choir and make sure that you areseated in a safe location before you try your first bite. I've never had anything quite like it in my life. Its like eatingfluffy snow that transforms into a refreshingly cold fruit smoothy as it melts on your tongue. Heavenly. True food joy. If itsyour first time trying Hawaiian shave ice I highly recommend that you try the Dragon's Blood syrup. Don't be intimidated by thename. Its a blend of strong dragon fruit and raspberry flavor with a hint of blood orange and strawberry kiwi. Trust me when Itell you that you will be happy to be punched in the mouth with this crazy amazing fruit flavor. Finally, I have to give a hugethank you to the owner's daughter for letting my wife join the end of the line at closing time. It was our last night in Kiheiand I had been terribly ill with food poisoning all week. I had recovered enough to enjoy one final treat before we left theisland. My wife really enjoyed chatting with her while waiting in line to be the last customer of the day. Turns out that thefamily that owns and runs the business is from the same part of Washington state where my wife was born and raised. Theytraveled and lived all over the world for many years and ended up settling on Maui and calling it home. So, in conclusion myfoodie friends, do yourself a favor and get a refreshing authentic Hawaiian treat from Gus'. Read more

We like to try lots of different shave ice places and we like this one because it?s unusual for the island. They have frozen... fruit shaves with interesting flavor combinations like Koan MacNut Coffee & coconut cream. There are also tropical fruit flavorsthat are delicious. They?re the only ones that do this so it?s a fun, and unusual treat. Check their IG for their hours as theymay vary from what Google post, but they?re worth a visit and the wait. Read more

Amazing shave ice - so smooth and melts in your mouth. They also have fruit shaves, where they shave actual fruit! I got... dragon?s blood (dragonfruit and strawberry), coconut, and lychee with a coconut drizzle (though I found out later that they havecondensed milk and highly recommend that instead for a drizzle). After it melted, the juice mixture it turned into was alsodelicious. My partner got the piña colada and blue Hawaiian flavors. The owner was super friendly and had amazing recs forflavors and for what to do on the island! A lot of other folks on line even said this is the best shave ice on the island.???? PS Gus is the bus!
