Reviews for Fred's Mexican Cafe - Kihei in Kihei, HI
Really tasty food. The chicken chingaderas are an interesting and unique appetizer. A little on the heavier side - so not sure... if it qualifies as an appetizer, but delicious! We tried the Mexicali salad - it was delicious! Chicken had great taste and wasjuicy. One small complaint was that the guac (side of guac ordered separately) wasn?t good. It felt store brought and had ataste of preservatives. I would have expected a Mexican cafe to make their own guac! Complimentary chip and salsa that you getare good. Overall, good food, great view and great service. Staff was pretty nice. We went for a late dinner, and there wasn?tany wait time. Read more

I had a chance to stop in at Fred's Mexican cafe for a light lunch after talking to my server about my preferences I chose her... suggestion the Chingaderas and paired it with a Long board. The Chingaderas are panko crusted chicken beans rice and cheese withand amazing house sauce. My server Kristina was friendly and knowledgeable. The prices was reasonable, the portions were great, the view was great and my over all experience was exceptional. I would highly suggest it to my friends and family. Read more

We were looking for a quick place to grab a bite to eat when we got to town and stumbled across Fred's. We had a front row seat... on the covered ocean view deck to watch the beautiful sunset. We enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa. We went withappetizers, Taquitos and Chingaredos to fill us up. The Chingaredos were great and something we have never had. We were toldit's a burrito cut into pieces, dipped in panko crumbs and deep fried. It was deliciously crispy on the outside and chewy onthe inside with good flavor. The Taquitos really had no flavor and kind of dry. They came with guacamole but they could haveused a side of sour cream or some squirted inside to help balance everything. Overall it was a good place to watch the sunsethave some drinks. We plan to visit again to try other items on the menu. FOOD 4 ? SERVICE 3 ? CLEAN 3 ? VIBE 4? Please give mea ????if this was helpful. Good coffee, nice staff and a few good vegetarian options. The place gets very crowded for dinner so if you're planning on... dining, come a bit early! We loved their Mexicali skillet for breakfast. They have a nice view of the ocean. Read more
The food was really good and the portions were generous. We loved the salsa and guacamole. We also got tacos, enchiladas and... quasadillas. And they make a good margarita too. Nice and open dining area, we had a table inside but it was near the large openwindows so it felt like sitting outside, and friendly staff. Read more
