We had to drop off our car at a local dealership on Katy freeway and decided to have breakfast at a local spot. Was eager to try... based on previous reviews. Maybe it was an off day but I felt at best the food was average and the service was almost nonexistent. Read more

Family own restaurant with amazing food and great service. Had the Criollo Plate and it was the perfect amount of food. Great... combination of flavors. And the first place since moving to Texas from Florida where I can get a great cup of Cafe con Leche. Will be coming back. Read more

As others have indicated, they will serve you day old watery coffee nuked to extinction in the microwave instead of making a new... pot. Unacceptable. The pancakes were rubbery and hard to chew and the scrambled eggs were just chopped up overcooked egg yokeswith some grayish whites in between. Everything was lukewarm to cold when it came to the table. Someone needs to help thesefolks and teach them how to cook, how to have higher standards, and have better service. The search for a good local breakfastplace continues. Read more

Amazing food, amazing service, I was born in Costa Rica and has been hard finding a place where you can have our most popular... dish, which is Gallo Pinto. At first, I was little skeptical about a Venezuelan restaurant making our precious dish. But, thisis one of the most delicious Gallo Pinto I ever had in my life. Rich on flavor, they know our secret sauce (which was veryimpressive), the gallo pinto sides were jut right and I just flew back to Costa Rica. They have Costa Rican coffee which makethe breakfast even more special. I highly recommend this restaurant, menu has plenty options. Is a family owned restaurant, owner super attentive, restaurant is nice and cozy. We definitely will come back and try more dishes, my wife was very impressedby their service and flavors. This is a 5 star restaurant. Thank you for the service! The greatest Kudos for you guys! Read more

Anyone who has ever had perfect gallo pinto knows that it ranks as one of the great dishes of the planet. At it's most basic,... it's rice and black beans, but at it's finest, it's speckled with chopped onion and peppers, flecks of fresh cilantro, andbursting with the flavors of Costa Rica's treasured Salsa Lizano (I very seldom see it for sale here and pick it up whenever Iam in Costa Rica). When cooked in the right oil at the right temperature with a well-seasoned pan, usually at a simple "soda" onthe side of a roadway, it's pure magic. My favorite add-in of all is Costa Rican natilla (a thick, rich slightly sour crema) anda little hot sauce (Crystal always works for me!). Gallo pinto goes with everything though best with a couple sunny-side upeggs, sliced avocado, and Costa Rica's ubiquitous tiny factory made tortillas (TortiRicas) at breakfast. And now, finally, I cansay that there is a spot in Houston that serves an exemplary plate of this dish. I've visited tiny Venezuelan-owned La BaguetteBakery & Bistro in Katy (21821 Katy Freeway) on many occassions since they first opened about 5 years ago. Not only is theirfood top-notch, but they also make spectacular coffees and fruit drinks. And now, they offer more than just their scrumptiousVenezuelan specialties, including a gallo pinto that should make any Tico proud. It is served with two eggs, a juicy chorizo, fried plátanos, and grilled cheese. And yes, they use REAL Salso Lizano! The only way it could be better is with a few slicesof aguacate, a dollop of natilla, and some hot sauce for flavor. But it was so delicious, it nearly brought tears to my eyes. Ifyou don't see it on the menu, just ask for the gallo pinto plate. It's served all day. This place is sweet and small andlocated just off the south feeder on I-10, just east of Mason, behind the Discount Tire (take a right on Mason Creek and enterthe parking lot at the first turn to the right). The lady who runs it has put her heart into this busin Read more
