My family and I dined at this establishment a couple of weeks ago. First I made reservations because we have a large group, this... was done 2 weeks ahead of time. We made it before our reservation time, we weren’t greeted I had to say something to the ladyat the front of the house. We were s really patient and I asked the lady at the front of the house about our table and she saidshe was working on it but the table we sat at was empty and no one went to clean it. I understand a lot of places are shortstaffed but the owner didn’t even have the decency to apologize about the wait, when I addressed that she said that had wewalked in with a big group we would’ve waited 2 hours and I told her that was the point of making reservations so we didn’thave to wait. She argued with me and said I was yelling which I was not, it’s so frustrating that a lot people immediatelythink that black women are yelling so it makes us look like the “angry black woman” when all I wanted to know was when wewere going to be seated and an apology for the wait which we never received. Finally at 1:15 we were seated, the servers wereamazing!!!! The owner Megan needs to take tips from them on how you treat a customer!! Food was mediocre at best, I agree with aprevious review that the mimosa was the best thing on the menu. I will give 2 stars for the servers only, we have never beentreated the way the “owner” treated us! On person in our group got food poisoning from the crab Benedict. I also forgot tomention that our wait was so long someone in our group had to leave, so she went to the bar to try and order take out and no oneever came to help her. Very very disappointed all the way around. I wouldn’t go back to homesteaders even if it was for freefood!! Read more

Wow! Fabulous service! Great food! I stopped by on recommendation from a friend and I’d go back again and again if I... could. I had the percolator, which was the perfect mix of espresso and Irish cream and the shrimp polenta with peppers andonion that were cooked to perfection. Read more

Buzy restaurant for a brunch. We were 2 people and the waiting time was between 45-1 hour. So we sat on the bar. It’s a full... service bar. The bartender was so buzy- he didn’t take a breather for even a minute. Very flavorful food. Read more

First time here, party of 4 adults and 3 kids, was really hoping for a better experience. Service was extremely slow, at first... it was okay because it gave us time to visit. Finally placed our order, took a longer than I expected for the food to come andthen it came out one dish at time. At least they did bring the childrens dishes first. I ordered the farmers breakfast withsausage and pancakes, I was expecting to get a sausage patty instead I got crumbled sausage. I ordered my eggs over medium butinstead got over very easy, the white was very runny and my potatoes were inedible. My daughter in law order biscuits and gravyand sent it back because the biscuit was hard and dry. My daughter ordered the farmers breakfast with eggs over hard and theywas just burnt, she did however enjoy the bacon. This so called house made ketchup is a joke, it taste like a cross betweenmarinara and cocktail sauce with some added sugar. The servers didn’t really seem to care that we weren’t pleased with theservice or the food and just walked away while I was trying to complain. I will say the mimosas are great!! The best thing thisplace has going. Read more

Underwhelmed. Tried this place for the first time after checking out the website. Had the blueberry lemon curd pancakes. The one... pancake was awesome. Perfect lemon curd and blueberries still so juicy they squirted when you ate them. Would highly recommendtrying if you go. But that was really it as for our pleasant experience. My bottom pancake and my daughters panckae was tooburnt to eat. We ordered beignets which were also burnt. We did get credited $10. The table and bench we discovered aftersitting was not very clean. Maybe it was just a bad day, but this won't be my first choice for breakfast in Kansas City. Read more

Homesteader Cafe serves the best Chicken & Waffles in Kansas City! Add to this the amazing service and quality drinks. The only... bad thing is that seating is limited, but it make sense because of the great food and nice people that work here. They also haveunlimited mimosas. Try this place if you live in the Kansas City Area! Read more

Homesteader is a great spot for brunch! Bottomless mimosas and other breakfast cocktails on the menu here. The cinnamon roll and... chocolate-filled beignets are both amazing . Four people can easily share the beignets. The Chicken and Waffles is perfect. TheBiscuit Egg Benedict has pork belly and is *very* rich. There's patio seating added when the weather is nicer. They'recurrently recommending reservations due to staff shortages. Parking is street parking. It's located in the 1st floor, entranceis accessible. There's a curtain to keep the chill/wind out of the main restaurant. The restrooms are accessible. Staff here isgreat and we had amazing service from various employees. Read more
