I got the Jerk Tofu & vegetable patty a few weeks ago. Even though the Jerk Tofu set my mouth on fire due to the high level of... spice, it was tasty. This a slimy place. The owners tries to pursue every woman who enters this restaurant. It is very uncomfortable to come with the... intention to dine and support a black business only to be disrespected. One of the owners obtained my telephone number from thecredit card transaction and begun sending text messages asking when I would visit the restaurant again to see him. The secondowner greeted me by saying ?I was going to cuss you out if you didn?t come in here with a smile.? This is totally disrespectfuland unprofessional. I will not be returning. It?s unfortunate that women cant patronize black establishments without beingharassed by the male owners. Stay away from this place if you have any respect or dignity for yourself or women. This has become one of my favorite spots! Delicious food and great service. By far, the best Jerk Chicken I've had in a long... time! A lot of items are special order, so make sure to call it in or be willing to wait for them to make it. It's worth thewait either way. Nuff respect!! Read more
My friend from Barbados came into town and 1VP happened to be open late in the evening. It was my first time there and even... though it was late and the oxtails weren't ready, the owner whipped it up for me special. The ox tails came with cabbage, peasand rice and I ordered a side of plantains. And of course you must top it off with a ginger beer!! My second trip was a to goorder that I called in. I was pleased that it was ready in time and I didn't have to wait. Great food and great customerservice. Will go back again and again. Read more
Hands down, the best Jamaican food in the city! These people take pride in their food! I have tried to other establishments in... the city and had subpar Jamaican food- you will not experience that here. The oxtails were cooked to perfection, the rice andcabbage was well seasoned and fresh. My husband had the fried lobster tail. He literally closed his eyes as he ate it. Thelobster was not over cooked and they served it with a sauce that was delicious yet not over powering. The staff was friendly,the guy at the front was so nice and the chefs in the back actually had chef coat/hats on. The restaurant was super clean. Ilove how they bring sanitizer to your table and a full carafe of water to pour at your leisure. The island music completed theexperience. It was a total vibe. Almost felt like I was back in Jamaica.
