Decent dining experience at Big City. It's pretty much Hawaii's take on an American diner. I got the fish and chips and the fish... was moist and the fries were crispy. Everything tasted good. Friendly service but it was pretty slow even though I went afterthe lunch rush and it wasn't crowded. Read more

It's cute but not a destination restaurant. My kid likes eating there so we go on the kids eat free day but other than that I... would choose some where else. Read more

Rude and rushed service from a waitress with a lack of knowledge (or seemed like she couldn?t be bothered to serve us) Wrong... meals came out, when asked the waitress about it she lied and said that?s what you ordered. Food was average and not worth themoney. It?s food establishments like this that begrudge me leaving a tip. I?m spending my hard earned money with you so expectto be treated kindly and served the correct meal Read more

Standard diner fare with variety of asian specialities. I always opt for the cheese burger and chili cheese fries here. Food is... good and comes out fast. Service is excellent every visit! Read more

Stopped for a quick bite with the family after visiting the The Byodo-In Temple, portions were great as well as the food.

As businesses struggle to return to normal, big city diner is doing a pretty good job with service, cleanliness and a good... selection of island favorites. On weekends you can order a selection of breakfast all day and a weekend brunch, although themenu doesn't explain what that is. I had the taco salad which was delicious but significantly smaller that I'm used to fromBCD. Be sure to ask for a QR code for their full menu since they have considerably more menu items available but do not let youknow since they don't want to have to clean the menus. Although most restaurants are only giving you one menu per table I findthat super tacky and I hope BCD steps up their game and does a better job letting you know they have more available than what'son their poorly printed and wet menu. Still worth a visit and although the portions are smaller, prices are higher, the kitchenstaff is still working hard to maintain the highest quality. Read more

My wife and I went here for dinner on April 10th. I always start with a 3-star rating and go up or down based on the speed of... the service, cleanliness, food quality, expense vs value, and professionalism of the staff. This was our experience: - Servicewas very slow, although our server was very polite and professional. They were not very busy, but we still waited about 10minutes to be seated, 25 minutes before we had a chance to order, and another 30 minutes before our food came out. We also haddifficulty getting her attention to bring us our check. The whole dining experience took more than 2 hours and we were tryingto be quick. - Ambience was OK. The restaurant is plain and very open and feels a lot like the food court just across thehall. - The food was well below average. -- My wife ordered the fried rice based on the server's recommendation, which cost$13. It was prepared improperly. The result was sticky, soft, rice that was swimming in oil, but was not actually fried. Although there were some vegetables in the rice, there was little else to add flavor and it tasted like it was not seasoned atall. Also, the egg that was served on top was bland, overcooked, and dry. -- I ordered the classic hamburger for $15. The bunwas plain, the tomato and lettuce did not taste especially fresh. The meat itself was clearly frozen, and was below average inflavor. The bottom part of the bun was dripping wet and pretty gross. -- The fries were OK, and were the best part of themeal. - We ended up spending $35 after tax and tip for a dining out experience that 1) left us both hungry and disappointed, 2)35 dollars poorer, 3) with a frustrated/sad toddler due to the service that took about twice as long as it should have, and 4)unimpressed and wondering how this place has 4 stars. I am guessing that like anywhere, experiences vary based on who is doingthe cooking on any particular night. Bottom line, I would not recommend Big City Diner in the Windward Read more
