Very good regional food! A bit different than my previous Thai experience but delicious nonetheless.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in the downtown Kamloops core! The panang curry is to die for and the soups are very close to... the ones that I have eaten different regions of Thailand. They don't have access to 100% of the ingredients that I have hadabroad, but I find that Kamphon does a pretty good job of providing a fusion Thai dish that closely resembles the flavour oflocal Thai cuisine. I also have to say that the food is very clean and prepared with love as I am never sick after even when Iover indulge. Clearly, they dont use additives or extra grease because our family feels as good after as if we cooked our ownmeal, albeit a little more full than usual. I popped into this restaurant for lunch. I was immediately impressed with how clean and calm the space was. I ordered a green... vegetable curry from a very attentive and respectful server and the curry was DIVINE. It was so delicious it blew my mind. We have ordered take out several times and always enjoyed it and they are fast and pleasant to order from. This was our first... time dining in. They had great decor, very attentive staff, and the food is even more delicious freshly from the kitchen. Thefood comes fast but is fresh and well-made. We have tried a lot of Thai places (mostly in Alberta) and are usually quitedisappointed when compared to our ultimate favorite Sook Jai Thai in Victoria, BC. This rates second only to them, and is localso we can regularly enjoy it. So glad we had finally tried Krob Krua. It's a great place for some yummy food. Faves so far: NuaTod (most flavourful juicy beef ever), Panang Gai Curry, Pad See Ew (dry), Gai Pad Ma-Muang HimmaPan, and coconut rice. Thereare other dishes I would love to try as well. I would like to start out that I have lived in kamloops for 17 years and this is my first bad review of a restaurant. My husband... wanted to be the hero and bring us home Thai food which is lacking in kamloops, we were both tired from work. We did have awonderful Thai restaurant on the north shore but unfortunately they moved back to Thailand. We were very excited to try thisrestaurant. Well as you can see by the pictures it was lacking in portions to say the least (we paid $35) the green curry wasnot creamy and lacking flavour, the coconut rice was lacking coconut and the 4 spring rolls we got were out of a box and overlydeep fried. So yes as we know COVID has been hard on these restaurants so we called and explained that we were disappointed. Hesaid that I have never had Thai green curry and I didn't know what I was talking about. I informed him (the manager) that indeedI did and said I spent 2 years in Thailand. He asked me where and I named off at least 5 places I have been to. He was shockedand said well this is how we make it and too bad we didn't like it. We are very decent people he could of offered a differentdish or something but the customer service was terrible. We will never return and will be sure to let everyone we know to stayaway!!! P.S. I never asked for free food I asked for him to make it right. Read the other reviews of the green curry it'sterrible. I support local I'm a good person. This man was arrogant and and does not care about customer service or the qualityof his food!! My advice is to Pinterest authentic green curry and make it yourself. There were 3 pieces of chicken a few piecesof veggies. Lack of service and quality makes this a bad choice considering what amazing restaurants are available on kamloops. Read more
