This place is a real gem. We stumbled upon it because Ohana Q next door was closed. This was a blessing. We have had sushi... and sashimi at various places in Hawaii and they were all ok. This place does sushi right. We like tempura and its hard tomess that up or make it amazing. With their sauce... It was amazing. We read the comments on the miso soup saying it wasbland. Far from it, it was flavorful with plenty of umami. We tried a lot of different things on the menu and enjoyed all ofit. The service was fantastic in a rather low key setting. The best part was the price...cheap for the quality and quantityparticularly when compared to everywhere else serving the same. If you are a sushi and sashimi lover, you wont be disappointedhere. First of all, I only use this restaurant only one time and can't guarantee that my experience could be your experience. I... ordered the lunch special (Lunch Special A) and taken out to eat from my house. When I open the lunch box (togo box), I was kindof disappointed with that visual. There was 10 pieces including one drink and I paid 12$ for this. Probably it is not a bad dealsince here is Hawaii. However it still does not give any satisfaction on my lunch. Probably I will try to eat the roll in therestaurant. (The taste of the roll was not bad, and the counter usher was nice). I came to Kona for work and got to spend three amazing months here. Shimaichi Sushi Kona is HANDS DOWN my FAVORITE place!... Everything is so incredibly fresh and melt in your mouth delicious! ???? I come here as often as I can and each time, I'm blownaway all over again. The service is impeccable and the sushi is the best you will ever find. It's a small shop, but do not letthat dissuade you!!! The food is UNMATCHED in all of Hawaii and you will come back for more, I promise! Really delicious sushi & great prices! My husband and I went here twice for lunch and were impressed with the lunch special... pricing and fresh fish. The spicy tuna roll and Alaskan roll are the ones we tried with the cucumber sunomono appetizer.Definitely a must try in Kona! Read more
Really tasty, fresh sushi in a strip mall location with clean, but basic decor. Plating is enticing. They have both indoor and... outdoor seating. The staff and sushi chefs were friendly and helpful. They close at 7:30 and last call is at 7:10, so planaccordingly. They have some daily specials on the board. Parked in the free lot across from the Farmer's Market location.Really glad we stopped in!
