Happened upon this place for dinner on open-mic night. Pretty cool experience, as a lot of local folks brought their own... instruments. Although the savory crepes we had for dinner were forgettable, the pupus, quality spot-on cocktails, and the topnotch service made up for it, and the atmosphere was unique among the touristy spots that otherwise occupy this area. Hey, watch out folks: Gertrude's got some sticky fingers. We were charged $12 for a soda on the menu at $10 (which was... overpriced to begin with). Worst part was that they told us about the $5 per person cover charge (aka "entertainment fee")*after* we sat down and ordered! Waitress was very nice to only charge us half the fee since we left after the first drink. Onthe upside, the jazz was fairly good, especially the piano player who simultaneously played the trumpet. Worst dining experience ever. Ordered nachos and wouldn’t pay $1 for them, much less $18. The “Nachos” we’re basically... raw veggies got cut up and slapped on a plate with some dry, semi-stale chips. Waiter said the nachos came with guacamole andsour cream but had none. Also ordered a virgin pina colada that just tasted like strong pineapple juice. The entertainment wasbasically karaoke. Waitress was nice though. Read more
We had our wedding reception at Gertrude’s in Feb 2022. The venue is perfectly located and was a fantastic place to have a... wedding reception! Gertrude’s is conveniently located and provides stunning views of the water and the incredible sunset! Ihave to give a special shout out to Emma who was our bartender during our event–she can mix a mean drink and was so friendly!Our wedding was on a Tuesday which made renting out the location very reasonably priced. If you do have your reception theresplurge for a special cocktail menu–we chose six cocktails to serve and they were all AMAZING! Read more
Oh man, I can't say enough about this bar. We stumbled upon this place after diving and were looking for a place to eat. We... realized they had a band so we stopped in, paid the cover fee and were seated right away. The restaurant was outdoor andcovered. It was night so we weren't able to see the view but it's right along the peer so I bet it was fantastic ???? The Cubanband was amazing ???????????? ???? People watching was great too! We had the fruit crepe, and that was fabulous. The menu wassort of odd, so we didn't really eat. But we really enjoyed our time and drinks. Read more
My wife and I stopped by after dinner tonight for a nightcap because we heard some great live music. We walked up the stairs and... were met with the the typical..."live music...so cover charge". I don't mind paying a cover charge so when I was told it wouldbe added to my bill, I didn't balk at all. Here is the "rub", there was a table of OBNOXIOUS patrons over to the side of thestage. By "obnoxious", I mean talking so loud they could be heard on the other side of the room. They could have easily sat bythe bar, away from everyone and else actually enjoying the music. Normally, this would not bother me, but I could see the otherpatrons and band visibly being annoyed by them. Not only that, but this table wasn't even paying attention to the stage in anyshape or fashion. The icing on the cake was the owner/manager/hostess (????) sat down with them to chuckle and laugh for a bit.From the outside looking in, it looks like my enjoyment of the entertainment I am being charged for is being marred by her"friends". This is not about the $20. I'm disappointed I didn't think to ask for the difference in the disturbance of myentertainment to be taken out of the drinks on my tab and not from the band...they were awesome! Really enjoyed this bar. We sat in a corner booth and it was fantastic. Got to see some talented musicians and enjoyed some... greats drinks. Also had great charcuterie board. Perfect for sharing. Read more
Food was cold, and we were charged $10 for cover charge despite online and calendar of entertainment posted outside facility... said $5 cover charge. We went back the next night and mentioned our disappointment about our previous night's experience. Ourserver was surprised, went to talk with a manager and returned with a cash refund for the overcharge of the cover charge! Read more
