Reviews for Portobello's Italian Bistro in Johnson City, TN

I LOVE this place! I've been here at least a dozen times Hubby and I end up eating there about every other Friday. Their steak... and cheese subs are the best in town and their supreme calzones are awesome! Pizza is also better than most - crust is on thethinner side but I wouldn't call it a "thin crust pizza." They also have nice crispy french fries which are better than justabout any other restaurant in town. I have also had the seafood ravioli at this place and that was awesome too. I love diningin their restaurant because their wait staff is always friendly and efficient and they play the best music in there! Theirseating has comfortable cushions and is sturdy and oversized with no arms on the chairs so anyone of any size should be able todine in comfort. Ample parking in front of the place. I don't know whether a wheelchair would fit through the front door,though. It just looks like a single width standard door to me so if you are in a wheelchair you may want to call ahead and askthem about that. Read more

Yall! I dont know why this place doesn?t have a line out the door every day! I am very picky about my Italian food. I see the... olive garden packed but this place is so underrated and its 10 times better for less money. This is one of my favoriterestaurants, i have had several items and never been disappointed. They even have vegetarian options. And the dessert arekiller!! I just cant give enough praises for this place. Plus staff is so sweet. Service was a little sketchy. Food is good, just not quite 5 stars.

Initial service was great, server was friendly and awesome, the portions were huge. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo... The... sauce didn't taste anything like parmesan, butter or cream ... It tasted like bland white sauce. Bread was decent, and itwasn't horrible, just bland. My companions spaghetti with meatballs was the same... not bad just on the very basic side . Read more

My husband ordered chicken Alfredo Calizone and I got the chicken piccatta and both were excellent. Plenty of leftovers and... plenty of flavor. The appetizer of bread sticks were hot and fresh. Service was top notch. So, glad we dined here. Read more

Their Gluten free pasta is great. I had fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken. The penne pasta they used was tasty, not... gritty or falling apart like most gluten free pastas. The sauce was delicious! The second time, I had the philly steak andcheese. I wasn?t sure about the burrito look of it but it was yummy! Definitely would order this again! My sister had thebaked spaghetti and she claimed it was as delicious as mine. Highly recommended. The staff is pleasant. When they quote you apick up time, it is correct. The mushroom ravioli in an Alfredo gorgonzola sauce was delicious. The pizza and calzone were very good also. Visiting from out... of town can make dinner selection a tough decision sometimes, so I am thrilled that I have found this place. Read more
