This place has been on my check out list for a long time. It does not disappoint! The building is beautiful with just enough... parking. The staff was welcoming even though we showed up early to our reservation. While they weren't able to seat us rightaway, there was another table we could sit at to order drinks while our table was prepped. Delicious drinks. The outdoor patiowas very comfortable and the way the seats were set up felt private. The food was outstanding. We devoured the hush puppies withbutter. The oysters were super tasty. The server, Tanya, was super knowledgeable about everything in the menu and helped guideus to our selections. She had a smile on her face the entire time. We were stuffed and had no room for dessert, but they broughtout a slice of super fluffy angel food cake with sprinkles since we were celebrating my birthday. Fabulous experience.Definitely check them out but make sure you make reservations ahead of time, otherwise you'll be eating really early or reallylate! Read more

This was one of the best meals we?ve had in Charleston!! We tried a little bit of everything and all was delicious! Excellent... portions as my hubby and I shared lots of things. Honey biscuits, mussels, wood grilled baked oysters, and halibut all reallygood! We would get everything again and next time we?ll make sure to save room for dessert! Read more

So many friends raved about The Royal Tern, and we finally made it! So glad we did. What a terrific restaurant. Everything about... it is just right. There is attention to detail that makes the dining experience seamless. An excellent reservation system (hint:reserve well ahead!) ensures that everyone who is there at any given time receives the perfect amount of attention from thestaff. The staff is impeccably trained? one of the few places I have been in Charleston where this is true? and the food isabsolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was amazingly fresh and served at the right temperature, too. I am so happy to havethis restaurant on Johns Island! Read more
