Just moved from Houston and was craving shawarma. This place isn't exactly what I'm used to (mom & pop places mostly). The... flavor was different and I didn't see the sides I normally get. Different isn't always bad, however! They have really nicesauces (all were good but the tahini cilantro sauce was IT) and the customer service was really good! Greeted quickly by friendly military looking dude, ordered and got drinks. Food came out about 7-10 minutes after we sat down.... Not to bad considering it was sort of busy. We had the gyro platter, which was fresh and hot with good amounts of Taziki sauceand hummus, salad was fresh with big chunks of feta, and the cilantro sauce from the sauce bar was good enough to drink. We?ve been going to another Mediterranean restaurant in Jacksonville, NC (Marrekesh) in which we loved. This place is similar in... the way of the food but atmosphere is different. Peño would be a place I would go to if I wanted Greek/Mediterranean in a jiffyand not sit down. Maybe for lunch or something. My family enjoyed the food and friendly service. We had talked with Mike who wasvery friendly and made us feel comfortable. I love sauces and this is one of the main things I enjoyed was the variety of saucesthey had set out. So we tried each one.
