Reviews for Papa’s Italian Cuisine and Grill in Jacksonville, FL
I went to Papas with family from out of town. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I ordered wedding soup and it had so much... oil/grease that I could not eat it. My husband ordered eggplant and he said it was okay but would not order it again. My otherfamily members ordered ravioli and said it was horrible... hardly any cheese in them. The only saving grace for this place wasthe waitress. She was nice. I will not be going back to this place. Good luck if you go. Read more
My husband and I visited Papa's several weeks ago at lunch and enjoyed a nice meal with good bread and an interesting salad bar.... There was a good selection of $10 lunch items. I took a friend to lunch there today and was handed a nice board menu withevening meals and evening meal prices. I asked about the lunch menu and he said they had a new chef and there was no more lunchmenu. Now I'm looking at twice what I thought I'd pay for lunch but I had a guest so we carried on. The server didn't tell usabout the salad bar. I only knew to ask because I'd been there before. We both ordered picatta (one chicken, one veal) with avegetable. When the food arrived it came with no vegetable and no explanation so I asked. I was told the chef hadn't had achance to prepare one. The server did eventually come back with some spinach. No bread (at an Italian restaurant?) Previously wehad been treated to a nice bread and an oil and garlic seasoned dip. My veal was so tough that I couldn't chew it. I told thewaiter and he said (I kid you not) that he would tell the chef 'for next time!' There was no one waiting for a table. We sat andchatted as the waiter cleared the table. It was when he came back and took our water glasses that we were still sipping fromthat I knew I'd never go back and that I'd write this review. I left 20% anyway. I waited a lot of tables when I was young. Wedon't have a lot of non-chain restaurants in this area and I like to support independent businesses whenever I can. Unfortunately this won't be one of them. Read more
I wanted to love it but sadly no. Very friendly people but constant interrupting during meal. I order Toasted Almond drink and... waitress brought me champagne. We explained how to make my drink and my hubby said he would drink the champagne along with hisglass of wine he ordered. Bill came and we were charged 12.50 for the champagne. Come on really. Food was Very good forhubby. A little pricey for our meal but we won't be going back sadly. Read more

I have a warehouse nearby and this place by far the best lunch I can have in the area. I grew up in NY in a small Italian... village on LI so I know good Pizza and theirs is very good and the fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic is so good. Theambiance and lighting is dead on. It's all relevant for a real Italian meal. They have a lunch special of a 10 inch pizza, saladbar and your choice of any soft drink, beer or wine for $10.00 Who offers anything like that! and the Cab that I have is a verynice medium bodied Red just perfect with the pizza. If you are from up north and fold your pizza like me, you can ask them tocut it into four slices. I will never do the knife and fork for pizza. Now the pizza is not the same as we have in NY but veryclose, and I would say that is because the NY water is what makes NY pizza and bagels superior to anyplace. Its the sediment inthe treated water that causes the dough to rise as it does and gives it a flavor like no other. So for Jacksonville, its Papa'sfor me. As Joe Pesci would say, they have your pizza right here! Read more
We had a fantastic and unexpected experience at Papa's. Loved that it's family owned and staffed, from Server to Chefs. ... Service & food were outstanding. Salad bar is stocked with not only the usual items, but also all yummy organic and houseprepared Italian specialties (relishes). We had a pizza that was the best we had in many, many years. We can't wait to comeback to have dinner and won't buy pizza anywhere else again. Thanks Terri and her staff for bringing a taste of Tuscany to Jax. Read more
We stopped in for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. They have $3 sangria Saturdays and a big wine list. The salad bar... comes with most entrees and the dressings are made in the kitchen. They have gluten free penne pasta that was good but themarinara sauce was somewhat runny. My husband loved his chicken marsala. Read more
Went to the Papa?s Italian grill restaurant last night for my birthday get together. There were seven of us. Every single... person had an exceptional meal!! . Me, the birthday girl ordered a steak with lemon and rosemary on it, I think it was calledMama?s favorite. All I can say is WOW!! It was amazing!! All of my friends ordered different meals, and were raving abouttheir entrées. The chef came out and made sure we enjoyed our meal. We had exceptional service, and an amazing dessert.. achocolate custard, that was decadent. SO GOOD!!! Will be back again and again. After all the chef cooked for the WhiteHouse!! ???? Read more
