First time visiting this place. It was definitely a good experience. Our appetizer consisted of Peel and Eat Shrimp - we ordered... it hot as suggested by our server. It was pretty darn good! Messy? Yup Worth it? absolutely! I opted for Fried Shrimp as myentree and had a side salad and a baked potato to accompany my dish. It was pretty good! Very friendly staff, cleaninstallations, flavorful food and decent prices. Read more
We have been going here for years. This is our favorite seafood restaurant in the area. Everything is good. Always a kitty or 3... on the front porch. Highly recommended. Read more

Very good food! Reasonable prices! The service was great as well! The alligator tails we had as an appetizer were seasoned and... fried to perfection! There was plenty of food on the Captains Platter and the Combo was plentiful as well!. The Corn clamchowder was just "okay" but the rest of the food made up for it. I would definitely return here! The atmosphere was very cozy. Iwould certainly recommend! Read more
Visiting my son, he just transferred from San Diego to Naval Air Station Jacksonville. This is the closest restaurant that isn't... on base. Very unassuming, mom and pop looking dive with great food, friendly service and fair prices. First ate here on a Fridayevening, had the stuffed flounder, son had the sampler with haddock, shrimp and scallops. Unlike other seafood places, you canget most offerings fried or grilled/broiled. Liked so much that we made a point to go back in a few days. Better yet, picked upsome groceries at the nearby Winn-Dixie and found a buy one entree, get 50 percent off the second on the back of our receipt.Saved a little money and had a little quicker service on the following Tuesday. Highly recommend to anyone that loves greatseafood and low country style southern hospitality. Will return on future visits with more family members, can't wait ! Keep upthe great work y'all !!! Nice local spot, every table full and people waiting. Everything seafood will fill your tummy. We started with the fried green... tomatoes. A large portion, seasoned coating housing a big slice of tomato. Next up, fried corn. Crunch your way into the sweet, creamy corn center. Remember they just left the fryer and still piping ????. We all ordered the same entree. Fried oysters, shrimp and scallops, with a side of Mac n' Cheese and crispy French Fries. There was a long period of silence as we oohed andahhhad our way through a mountain of goodness. If you like simple but good food Trents is your place. Save room for dessert. Read more
To start with it was my daughter's birthday. So I let her pick wherever she wanted to go. So she picked J.L. Trent's. It was... our first time there and it was absolutely amazing. A down home seafood restaurant with great ambiance and appeal. Southerncharm and seafood at its best. The staff were very friendly and helpful not to mention attentive. I don't just mean one ofthem, I mean all, yes ALL of the staff were great. From door greeting and seating, to taking our drink orders, to our waitressKaren and even the bus crew and janitors were all amazing. When Karen was busy other staff helped out. Although Karen was anamazing waitress I must say. She let us take our time and order so we got exactly what we wanted. We were not ever rushed orpressured about or into anything. Our food came at it was A LOT and was on point to boot. From the calamari appetizer to ourlobster feast for two. There was soooo much food we could not have eaten it all. We did eat until we were full and had plenty ofleftovers. We hadn't noticed, but as my daughter and I were enjoying each other's company as well as our dinner the restaurantwas closed. It was only after we were windng down and gettinghigh ready to go the I noticed that we were the only one's there. They had closed their doors 20 minutes or so prior to me noticing them cleaning up and still there was no hush to get us out andeveryone was still helpful and as polite as could be. My daughter and had a great time. They made us feel at home and they madeus feel like family. My daughter had a great time and a great experience that neither one of us will ever forget. Not only havethey earned my business, but also my respect. Read more
Stumbled upon this gem while in Jacksonville visiting my dad who was in the hospital. I had the platter where you choose 3... items. I had the scallops, shrimp, and deviled crab. I had slaw and cheese grits as sides. VERY GOOD! All of the food wasfabulous. The service was great. The atmosphere is cool. And the cats outside are very cute and friendly. We even grabbed abowl of oyster stew to take to my dad so he could have something better than hospital food. Read more
