Ok, I am in Jackson, for business and kept reading about this restaurant. I pride myself on discovering great local restaurant.... Jamaican & African Restaurant is one of those local finds, where the kindness toward the patrons and the passion for their foodis absolutely wonderful. I tried the traditional jerk chicken, rice & peas, and yams. And, when in Jamaica, you have to have aRed Stripe beer. So, for the food, all I can say is OMG, I'll see you tomorrow. As they say in Jamaica, " Ya mon, I have innerluv fi your food? Read more

Just left here. I call order in at 7:30. They tell me 20 mins. I arrive 10 minutes early. I?m second in line. It was about a 5... minute wait. I?m saying all this to say my food was already ready. By the time he gets to me Food was lukewarm. Than I was given4 baby pieces of ox tail on a large plate. I asked him about it he said it was as right. For $26 the portion sizes could havebeen better. I come here at least twice a week. Could at least give me hot food if you?re going to short me. Read more

The food was so delicious, and the customer service was excellent!! I was visiting for the weekend and wanted some different but... good food. I found this gem. I called ahead of time to order the fish, which came with two sides, and I added the vegetableswith shrimp. The place is clean and has a great smell, and I noticed they serve food buffet-style. They have enough seating forfamilies, but parking is a little tight. I plan to visit again soon when I come down for my college homecoming. Read more

I come here for the goat with rice and peas and sweet potatoes. I am in Greenfield so whenever I go to Jackson I pick up a... plate. Reminds me of the food I ate when I lived in NYC. Delish! Read more

I traveled from out of town and searched for a Jamaican restaurant. Food was what I expected?.very tasty and seasoned well. I... only gave it 4 stars because of the amount I received for the amount I paid. Other than that, stop in to get your oxtails. Read more

Everything was delicious! We went Thursday night and Friday lunch time. A little busier during lunch time. We had the curry... chicken with plantains and rice. Oxtails with cabbage and mac and cheese and jerk chicken. Everyone had something different andeach dish was good. Beef patties had a flaky crust, yum. Corn bread muffins were sweet. Would recommend 10 out of 10! Read more

I walked in on December 16, 2021, and asked the guy behind the counter what was good? He replied, "Everything's good." I asked... the next guy working behind the counter the same question, and he replied in kind. I ordered an ox tail dinner with all thesides. Without a doubt, the food served here is as authentic you can without taking a trip to the Caribbean. The food servedhere will appeal to all of your culinary senses. This is not one of those fancy Michelin five-star restaurants on your bucketlist you dream about being able to visit. However, at the Jamaican & African Cuisine restaurant, you will receive the bestplate of homecooked food between the Mississippi River and New York City. If you live in Jackson, TN, or on the road travelingand looking for something different to break the monotony of the boring national chain restaurants, this is the place. The foodis served like when eating at Grandma's house. The food here is the best Jamaican cooking has to offer. The single servingportions are large enough for 2 dinners to share. The flavor is off the Richter scale, and if you are weight conscience, make avisit here your cheat day. Mr. Jospeh is the chef/owner of Jamaican & African Cuisine with his two sons. He was a pleasure tomeet and talk with every dish he prepares; his first ingredient is a double dose of L O V E. I enjoyed eating here so much. Idined twice in one day and also got plates to go for dinner the next day. The quality and value of the food make this a place Iam anticipating visiting again soon very soon. It is well worth the 180-mile round trip drive. Stop by soon and see Mr. Josephand ask what's good? and enjoy your meal. Read more
