Lunch buffet . Southern style soul food. We stumbled on this Diner. Fried chicken , bbq bologna, roasted turkey, meat loaf,... mashed potatoes, peach and berry cobbler. And so on. Visited the Casey Jones museum and had lunch at this convenient store and restaurant. There's a buffet which includes a salad... bar. Be sure to check the website for the daily menu as the food items vary by day. It got really packed around 2 so get thereearly! Make sure you check out the candy store and ice cream shop to fulfill your sweet tooth. While you're there, check outthe old soda fountain. The sign below it says that 75 we're made and only 3 exist today! Read more
Stopped off here for lunch having seen a few recommendations on the Tennessee forum. Good choice. The store itself was... interesting and we got the chance to have a browse whilst waiting for our table. Everyone was every friendly, service good, thebuffet varied and tasty. The staff was very kind, and the food was absolutely delicious. I was on my way back from TX passing through to go back to KY,... and I wish I would've taken 3 more plates back home with me! Also had the blackberry cobbler which was also delicious. Greatoverall experience, and I liked the atmosphere. Will def go back again when I get a chance. Read more
Came across this place as an added bonus while we were looking for the Casey Jones museum. The meal was reasonably priced and... the food was very good. The people running the place were very friendly and courteous. Definitely worth a try. Read more
This was definitely a walk into history. The artist's renditions all around the store are awesome and memory-invoking. The... rustic vibe of the store/restaurant is nice and it was clean. The servers were nice and friendly. I loved the display of candlesgone by and the other trinkets in the gift shop and the old-fashioned ice cream soda fountain were the perfect touch. But, whatabout the food? If I were to rate the food only, it would be 3 stars simply because the area was clean, well stocked andeverything was hot. But, everything was also bland and some of the vegetables were drowning in liquid. Read more
Good quality old school buffet. Unlike Golden Corral, this restaurant does not bombard their diners with variety and quantity,... but they make sure every dish is prepared well. In particular, I like the spaghetti prepared with their in-house meat sauce (themeat chunks are irregular in both shape and size) and cream corn.
