Reviews for Papi's Taqueria in Isle of Palms, SC
Papi's was recommended to us by a stranger on the beach. We looked up the menu and let me say, they have THE best ALLERGY... FRIENDLY, including GLUTEN and DAIRY FREE menu! (See pic.) I sent a picture to my MIL bc she hates onions! You'll understandwhen you see the menu! So, my bestie and I walked to dinner, and luckily we got there early so there wasn't a wait. (Get thereearly.) We were seated immediately by the front door. Me, being the observer that I am, noticed the total occupancy is 39people max. Note: it is a very packed tight restaurant. Don't be afraid to get cozy! I also noticed there were 3 levels. Level1: dining, level 2: more dining, level 3: patio bar! And then there are tables outside for some more dining. They do have barseating as well. Weaving through tables and a high top, you'll find the restroom on the first level. Let's talk aboutfood! The chips and guacamole were awesome! The chips are made in house and made with corn, so definitely Gluten Free! I highlyrecommend. If you like salt, these crispy chips are just right! My friend and I ordered the sesame seared tuna taco. I orderedmine gluten free, she ordered hers without any special requests. The size wasn't too big, in fact, they were the perfect sizeespecially if you're going to order more than one. (Which I recommend!) I take one bite and being super distracted by theamount of people coming in, I didn't notice that my taco was on a flour tortilla. I pick up the taco for a second bite andimmediately realize what I had done. I let the server know that the taco was on a flour tortilla as I rushed to the restroom. Iwas not upset with anyone but myself. I am so careful! I guess the people watching had me so distracted. The server said therewere more restrooms upstairs, but then a gentleman exited the restroom just in time. Let me say, the GM and the servers wereAMAZING and so KIND. They apologized and said they should have caught the error. I felt terrible because I should have Read more
Probably one of the worst places I?ve been here. Being a local I am sad to make this post but not good food. First of the place... was dirty. All of our glasses were filthy (other peoples lip prints and food chunks) I got a Diet Coke 3 times with zerocarbonation and our menus were covered in gunk. The nachos were decent but super cold and the cheese was black bean water mix.The tacos were super tiny, tasteless and cold as well. I really wanted to like this place?. Must be drunk to enjoy thisestablishment lol I?m shocked at the quality of the food bc the reviews looked pretty good. All of of food was cold. Read more
This place is fantastic!!! Great food, reasonable prices and super friendly employees. Love the Island vibe. There is a rooftop... dining area with the ocean visible off the back. Read more
Definitely one of the better restaurants here at the isle of palms sea side. Everything is kind of mid. I wish they served the... tacos with 2 corn tortillas instead of one. $8 for one 3" taco. Still pretty good. My rice in my breakfast burrito was crunchy.???? the service is really the best though. Better than Windjammer and the rum place beside them. Read more
Mostly delicious food, great staff & wonderful outdoor seating options. Only weak dish was the street corn, but I would... absolutely eat here again. Read more
One of the better places on the island for sure. After a lackluster meal at Lawrence?s down the street, I was pleasantly... surprised by Papi?s Taqueria. The menu had its weak spots ( I wouldn?t recommend the Nashville Hot taco, the Churros, or thesalsa), but it made up for it with its extremely strong dishes (fish tacos, guacamole, queso, steak taco, and street corn)Between the four us we nearly ordered everything on the menu, and despite the weaker dishes I would definitely opt for Papi?sover the majority of the restaurants on the island. It?s a refreshing meal that leaves you full but not feeling icky after, andthe street corn is absolutely lovely if you go you HAVE to try it. Read more
Great tiny taco shack and taqueria we stumbled upon on our leisurely Sunday! Everything tasted fresh and we got good sized... portions of the tacos. You definitely only need one or two as they are hearty!! I wasn?t the biggest fan of the salsa ormargarita (I?d just had better before) but the poblano queso was unique and delicious as well as the pork belly breakfast tacoand fresh fish taco! It?s a cute quaint little spot too! Highly recommended. Read more
Went for the first time and it was amazing. Had their chicken tortilla soup and it was full of avocado, chunks of tender... chicken and just the right spiciness. Sooo good. Followed by their churro beignets with hot chocolate sauce with whippedcreme and omg! 10 out of 10 on the yummy scale! Read more
