Reviews for Tu Madres Cantina & Grill in Indio, CA
Came from out of town to visit Indio and wanted Mexican food. This place stood out to me. No regrets. The margarita tasted so... fresh, burrito was solid, the salad was my favorite. I have a good feeling everything on the menu is tasty. I’d definitelycome back. The staff was nice and helpful. Great ambiance. Read more

Celebrated my birthday at tu madres and loved this decision. We noticed we weren’t the only one celebrating. And the... restaurant had more customers in it than we expected for August. The tortilla soup was amazing. The charred avocado was a firstfor me and will be ordered again. The guacamole and salads were excellent, but the surf and turf burrito (huge) was the star ofthe night. If you are in Indio or anywhere near tu madres it is well worth the visit! P.S. make sure to order a margarita , thebest in the valley. Read more
Margaritas, queso dip, and decor were great. Service was slow, but understandable with staffing issues. Only thing that... bothered me was meat portion size with tacos. It would have been nice to be satisfied on tacos alone, not have to ordermultiple courses. Read more
Got the vegan burrito (ask for their vegan menu) and added the impossible meat. Pretty good, just needed guacamole which I did... ask for a small side of to add. Pretty big burrito. Their other vegan option were impossible tacos but you only got two of themand a choice of a side for $13, meanwhile the burrito was $11 plus $5 for impossible meat add on. For $13 the taco option seemedexpensive for what you got, as it would have been my choice if you got 4 tacos, as honestly I wasn’t interested in getting aside as part of the meal. Read more
Just a month ago I wrote the review you can read below. I gave the restaurant 4 stars, and really felt they deserved it, and... that they had overcome some early short-comings. I returned a month later, with friends, to share the new experience. This time, the experience was pretty far from very good. Ordered pretty much the same thing, but with very different results. TheBar-Vacado looked like something the cat threw-up. Sorry, that's what it looked like. Instead on a striking presentation itwas served in a small bowl, drowned in the sauce and with a dried out rib meat atop. Not attractive at all. The Coconut Shrimpwas dry, one of them over fried to a rubbery uneatable chunk. Add a hostile wait staff that's sole goal seemed to be to hurryus through our meal, and even the cocktails were poor. Sorry, not good. So, when you can't tell if your good or bad, yourbad. We originally visited this modern take on a Mexican restaurant right after it opened, just per-pandemic. We thought it wasgood, very unique, and perhaps a little limited in it's menu. We planned on returning, but as it happened, that just neverhappened: until last week. We returned last week to try again, and were very much impressed with the restaurant. The staff wasparticularly upbeat and friendly. The food was good, even excellent, and the service was great. It was still a bit pricey for asmall restaurant in a supermarket shopping center, but it will go in the rotation for a nice meal on occasion. So someparticulars on this visit. We decided to sit in the bar area, which had several tall tables and chairs, and it seemed a nicelocation. We had come early, and it gives some life to a slower time. It was a great choice. The bartender waited on us, andshe was a delight. Friendly and engaged, suggested several items and was very attentive. We decided on appetizers andmargaritas, and that was another great choice. The premium margarita is served with the Grand Marnier on the side, so y Read more
Wow, maybe the best Mexican food in town in this upper price range. We got the Platter for Two and it was so good! We also got... the Mexican Cesar salad ???? which was a delight. The Trio salsa and chips was a necessity to get the salsa to incorporate intothe rest of the meal. Read more
