Reviews for Root & Bone - Indianapolis in Indianapolis, IN
This was a meal with some hits and misses. Overall, I'd say it was too expensive for the experience. The deviled egg, pickles... and especially the Mac and Cheese were too small for the value. The deviled egg was on the good side, but lacked something toelevate it (and it really tried). Perhaps some smoked paprika and flaked salt? Pickles had some good flavor, maybe the bestokra I've ever had. Very crisp and not a bit slimy, which is a danger with okra. Some of the pickles were too sweet. Mac andCheese desperately needed salt so we sent it back. I was removed from the check, but somehow still charged the tax forit??? Her chicken dish had some nice flavor as did my grits. The sauce for the chicken tasted basically like McDonald'sszechuan sauce. So if you're a portal traveling grandpa, you'll have a good time. Read more
This place was really cute and the food was good too! Borderline expensive but not too terrible. We had the Hotcakes, biscuits... and gravy, grits, and pickled vegetables. The Hotcakes had a charred plum compote on it that I expected to be sweet but itwasn't. It wasn't bad but it was definitely different! The biscuits and gravy were good! We also got the pickled vegetables. Read more
I heard good things about Root & Bone and people aren't wrong. It's a charming, nice restaurant. The food was delicious. We... ordered the chicken and waffles, deviled eggs (wish the portion was a little bigger than just 1.5 eggs), green beans, andbraised short rib meatloaf. The fried chicken is really good; moist and crispy. Perfectly seasoned. The staff was also great, from the moment we met the host (Joelle (spelling??) was his name, I think, and he had the prettiest bright eyes) to meeting ourserver, Trinity. She was so pleasant and attentive. We had a great time chatting with her. Definitely will have to go back. Read more
One of the best dining experiences we have had in a while. We came straight from the children?s museum and were dressed in... simple clothing, but weren?t made to feel out of place at all. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. We willdefinitely be recommending this restaurant to anyone visiting Indy! Read more
Great experience overall. The starter "bacon board" was a 10/10 - that alone is worth the visit. Chicken and waffles were... wonderful, although it came "bone-in" so it was messier than expected. Biscuits and gravy were very good. Bacon-infused oldfashioned was meh (very "one-note" bourbon flavors/not complex). We were left wanting on the service - not bad, but notmemorable by any means. In summary, I recommend a visit for their specialty bacon items. Read more
The atmosphere, location and food were all amazing!! Root & Bone will be a staple brunch spot for myself and friends. We tried... to order the menu ( we share at our table). Not pictured were the wonderful fried green tomatoes and everyone's entree. Therewere leftovers and a lasting great impression. Read more
Amazing service and atmosphere. We had reservations and we had a great date night. The new American fare was fantastic and our... waiter had great recommendations for each course. Our bacon board was flavorful, great variety of flavor. Our salads wereamazing. The wedge was one of my favorites I?ve had in a long time , my beet salad was supposed to have pear but was a bitlacking in that flavor, otherwise fantastic. The sides with our meatloaf were tasty, prepared well. Our bread pudding wasphenomenal end to a great meal. Read more
Great spot for brunch. The shrimp and grits are absolutely fantastic, flavors are complex and presentation was great. Bloody... Mary is okay but not spectacular. They have a cocktail list, respectable cocktails worth ordering but certainly not in the toptier of cocktails in the city. Service has been good when we have been twice. Read more
